Something new and pricey!

They also make one the same model with an 18.5.

That is so tempting. Maybe for a very special occasion. I’ll let it stew for a bit and monitor it’s performance across the internet.

Buy this one or put a stock on an Aftershock 990!

For the price difference I think I'd put a Hogue stock on the Aftershock once the paperwork is approved.

Great to have choices.

Couple of folks are now adding a full stock to their Shockwaves.

I thought this was discussed here already, maybe on another forum - however -

Mossberg said at Shot Show the 990 SPX 'stocked' models (not Aftershock) in SBS and non NFA 18.5" configuration have had the gas system tweaked since the Aftershock was not designed to be fired with a stock and some who had used it as an SBS host, found that it would not cycle the light stuff - so they admitted that although they knew a ton of people would use them as SBS hosts they did have to go back and tweak some things

I for one, am most likely going to pull the trigger on the 18.5" version when it is available - I wanted a Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol because it has great aftermarket support, I already have a 1301 Tactical, but this 990 SPX Magpul version gives me all I would want out of the box and there are very few shotguns I buy where I am almost 100% pleased with and don't change anything, this may be the first one!

I love that it keeps the top tang receiver safety for familiarity, comes with opened loading port, hi-viz follower, enlarged controls, and the best Magpul stock out of the box- and the optics cut on the receiver is a great touch - the forend also really grew on me as I really like the QD cups on it and still leaves room up front for M-Lok accessories - it should be a great seller and my FFL says the 18" version should be about 1k out the door from him when Davidson's or Lipsey's gets them in stock

The Aftershock does have some issues with stock and recoil although some have reportred it's also somewhat due to operator and the use.

But this new SPX should address the issues.

Regards
