OH SNAP!

lol considering signing.. still confused as to whether or not Black Escalades will be following me too work :p

"...turd in a punchbowl.." very well than :) haha Agreed, Sir!
I honestly believe that no 1 state could survive on it's own. There would need to be others to assist in the ways they flourish whilst, others states could return the favor in the same manor. Texas may last a good while on their own, but not long enough to prove anything. My father mentioned something about the Amendment that Rossignol is speaking of, said that it would essentially become and "Enemy of the State"...

!!Sad Story Alert!!... my mother is an Obama Supporter (that is the sad part)... my father a devote Republican, would you imagine they are divorced? hahahahahah :)

From Wiki:
Texas v. White[54] was argued before the United States Supreme Court during the December 1868 term. Chief Justice Salmon P. Chase read the Court's decision, on April 15, 1869.[55] Australian Professors Peter Radan and Aleksandar Pavkovic write:
Chase, [Chief Justice], ruled in favor of Texas on the ground that the Confederate state government in Texas had no legal existence on the basis that the secession of Texas from the United States was illegal. The critical finding underpinning the ruling that Texas could not secede from the United States was that, following its admission to the United States in 1845, Texas had become part of "an indestructible Union, composed of indestructible states." In practical terms, this meant that Texas has never seceded from the United States.[56]
However, the Court's decision recognized some possibility of the divisibility "through revolution, or through consent of the States".

Through revolution or through consent of the states pretty much says it all and this was in 1869.

I think Texas would survive just fine with their balanced budget and the worlds 15th sized economy. Most states would make it but would need to back down the standard of living some and live within their means. They'd also make close alliances with other like minded states as Itsricmo noted above. The socialist paradise experiment in California would have the hardest time. They would be like Greece is right now time...bankrupt with riots when the promised freebies aren't forthcoming.

I'm not saying I support states seceeding, just that some would do well and probably thrive. I would rather we stay united and fix the problems. It's just that I don't see that happening. An example are states with grand but under funded retirment promises for their state employees. Some are already saying they will need federal money. The states, including mine, got into that mess and others that didn't shouldn't have to pay for it.

:) Don't flatter yourself, you gave more information signing up for MossbergOwners and Facebook than is required to sign a petition and stand for something you believe in

lol still asking for the birth certificate... isn't it a little too late now? He isn't going to be afraid to pull strings and do things off the books, for sure now!

My Father has taken a turn for the worse!!

NOTE: I am trying to start a Religion War or anything of the sorts. I respect everyones views, beliefs, opinions, etc... I personally found this amusing and depressing at the same time lol... I am not very religious, if at all. Mostly in part due to the fact that my father has a been a Pastor/Preacher for some time now and was shoving it down my throat haha... But here is what he has gone and said that I felt worth passing on...

He has recently posted on Facebook that:

For my conservative Christian friends, something has been on my mind that you may not like but I feel compelled to say. Scripture tells us in Romans 13 that all civil government is ordained by God, and we are to subject ourselves to it as we subject ourselves to God.

It reads, "Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. ..." ~ Romans 13:1-2.

That being said, in rebelling against the president, regardless of your personal feelings, you are rebelling against God. Now really, do you think that Obama snuck in and surprised God somehow with this election? Hardly. And remember, the oppressive Roman Empire was in place when Jesus walked the earth. I think He knows a thing or two about what goes on in politics.

So we should be praying for our president, and I will be doing so from now on. We have enough division in our country and in the body of Christ as it is and we need to come together as one country and one body. Trust God, even with this administration. He knows what He is doing.

I have a rebuttal, but ill have to come back to it.

FWIW, if our founders and framers had implicitly followed that, wed be payin taxes to the Queen right now and I don't mean freddy mercury. However, they cited 28 violations of biblical principal against Englands occupiers as a preface to revolution. I think it was 28, I may be off on that...

In any case, ill come back to this.

If you read between the lines it sounds like “if you can’t beat em, join em”……oh well, he posted what he thought , why do you bring it here to pick it apart, support you family because at the end of the day that’s all you got, not the president, not us…..not even God.
It’s what he believes and you don’t have to agree with it but you can support him by not trying to critique his thoughts with a bunch of strangers (us)

Time for everyone to move on, elections over.
It is what it is and everyone can sit around and cry or they can go about life , taking care to keep an eye on things but life goes on……no one likes a whiner

Wow Oli700, I didn't take that like you did. It's a fair question and some people during the Revolutionary War fought with the same question that was posted. Is it going against God to resist or ultimately revolt against your government? A lot is written on this but I think people take Romans 13 to literally. I believe people have inalienable rights, one of which is to defend yourself and that includes against wherever you are attacked from.

I haven't been able to get into Romans yet to look at the full context of what Paul was writing.

Our founders however had the foresight to include the 2ndA as a hedge, a deterent against over bearing tyranical govt. As Frederick Douglass said, "The limits of tyrants are prescribed by those whom they oppose".

We fight in one venue or another every single day, not necessarily with the arms available to us, but we fight and struggle. The election was just one recourse available to us. As for bein subject to the authority that is over us, we are when we use the established law to oppose our govt. Opposition doesn't have to be violent revolt, and opposition doesn't have to be unlawful. In using the channels of written law, we are still bein subject to those that govern. And ill point out, even if they have forgotten, they are elected and subject to us. They are hired public servants and I have no doubt our founders and framer knew well biblical principal and scripture. I have no doubt they knew and understood what is written by Paul in Romans and that biblical principal guided the framing, provided the framework of our republic.

Our founders felt civil disobedience was a right granted by our creator as much as life, liberty, and the persuit (not the gaurantee) of hapiness.

That is very well said.

Oil, I apologize if I insulted you! I said it before that I respect everyone's opinions and especially my fathers but I believe it is that, which we differ, that brings us closer together! We may not see eye too eye but we still have each others back no matter what. I felt it was worth sharing as another opinion and view on this conversation. Simply because the election is over and the results are dosent mean we should stop talking about it. Keeping things like this in conversation is good, IMHO. If I think anything more ill post it lol I'm Black Friday line waiting :p

Rossignol... Well said! Very well said!

Not offended at all, just the way I took it, no worries.I am just a little more protective of my family and would never bring things to public to pick apart no matter how wrong they are.....just me.....carry on with your religious/political conversation

Politics and religion. Topics that many try to keep seperate, but they are however intrinsically linked.

I don't mind sharin many aspects of my personal life, sometimes just anecdotally.

to some

I guess you don’t mind just anyone knowing your family’s business, personal choice. Nothing wrong with it I guess if all parties are privy to their crap being aired over the internet for everyone to read.....the difference between someone posting on FB and here is one requires you to be accepted as a friend to read and the other just any jackass like me can read and comment on it....now anyone can come on here, negatively cut Ricks father down from a keyboard...and that’s fine if that’s acceptable to Rick and his Dad….. in my world trash talking my Dad is fighting words

The two have been linked since the founding of the country. Some are religious while others aren't, and while the Constitution makes clear seperation (meaning the govt has no business bein knee deep in it and not the other way around) the two could not be seperated in our countries founding.

You know the kind of stuff I post. I'm pretty open about "many" aspects, not every. You guys have a pretty good idea who I am, without guille, and my family knows me to be the same. As long as we're on a public forum, there isn't any assumed privacy on my part, nor will any amout of discretion prevent the determined from finding anything they want. I assume responsibility for my privacy and post what I do with the belief that nothing is altogether private on a public forum even that whichis never posted at all.

Maybe its just me.

Well Ric started off with this and I think it's a good lead in:
NOTE: I am trying to start a Religion War or anything of the sorts. I respect everyones views, beliefs, opinions, etc...

I'm sure his Dad believes in what he wrote and he is certainly entitled to his opinion. One flaw I see in the literal interpretation of Romans 13 would be if the civil government of Texas wanted to dissolve their union with the civil government of DC, who is disobeying Romans 13?
