When my dad passed in 1973, for some reason my mother packed up all of his military things and send them to his sister in Indiana, where they have since disappeared. This is an old picture of Charlie: paratrooper in both the 101 & 82nd. Early in the war he broke his back on a jump, and when released back to duty he volunteered for the Glider Corps since he couldn't jump any more. Flew over Normandy on D-day with the advance units - in gliders. Silver star & other ribbons that I don't remember. The most unassuming soldier. Rarely spoke of the war. I'll be proud of him and that whole fighting force until I leave this earth. I still find inspiration on what they accomplished.
