Growing up on the ranch we had a single county story a couple of miles away and beyond all the grocery items, cigarettes and beer they sold both shotshells and .22 shells by both the box and each. Back then we kids could buy two .22 shorts for a penny or one .22 LR for a penny. I don't remember ber what shotshells cost. They also had penny candy so the treat if you had a few cents was to spend it on a piece of candy and a few .22 shells. Life was good.I remember buying beer and cigarettes at the drive-up minimart, but I never got the takeout ammo.
