Question Of The Month (January, 2022) (Covid)

Apart from wearing masks in public areas (but I've worked in a lab environment all my life, so mask wearing is 2nd nature), and having more jabs this year than the last 5 years combined (3x Covid, 1x Flu, 1x Pneumonia), the biggest change has been working from home.
I've worked for the same Company for 45 years now, and always commuted the 15 miles to work. Since March 2020 I've worked from home (IT job) and only been on-site for essential work on about 6 occasions since then.
Neither of us are social animals, so we don't miss drinking or partying...

My Wife worked in the Creche at the local sports centre, and when they had to close she was made redundant, so shes effectively retired and using her pension.

One thing I didn't like was the gun club closing down for several months during the lockdown. As the majority of members are getting on in years, they thought it safest to close, but its been open again now for a while.

Stress, stress, stress!

Having to wear a mask at work and the ever looming stress of being sent home, quarentined or losing my job every time I cough or blow my nose. The workplace rules are rediculous and most are really pointless.

My younger coworkers who already had covid and do not want the jab are going to be out of work in a few weeks if the mandate stays in effect. My company only has about 55% of its employees vaccinated last I heard. Most are factory laborers who will be unable to find test kits weekly to keep their jobs.

All this cluster **** for a shot that does not prevent infection, does not prevent spread and does not decrease the viral load.

The stress of seeing how poorly the entire covid pandemic has been handled has affected me more than anything else.

I do not fear dying from covid, I am upset with the disruption of lives, loss of busineses, loss of freedoms and total upheavel of our election process covid has caused.

The one positive: I went from having constant sinus issues and several colds a year, prior to covid, to nothing for two years now and all I did was up my vit D, vit C, and zink suppliments. Why aren't they recommending that for everyone regardless of covid?

I'm waiting on a test. My dad and sister are positive. I've been coughing so hard I get light headed. I'm starting prednisone tomorrow. This is the 4th or 5th time to quarantine for me and all were false alarms. I have enjoyed working from home the last 18 months. This week we went back to on site at the factory. I was on a schedule of home Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. I really get annoyed at mask nazis and the self righteous that can't seem to bring themselves to question the CDC, the Chinese, Fauci, Biden etc.

The recent push to get everyone vaccinated has been really wearing on me for sure. My family has a medical condition that makes any vaccines extremely risky, especially ones containing any form of human tissue (which is farmed from fetal tissue harvested from Planned Parenthood). Foreign human DNA can cause a dormant gene we have to mutate and develop the autoimmune disorder Crohns. This happened to my brother a few years ago from the MMR vaccine. It's permanent and the symptoms are painful.

Needless to say it's far too risky for something like Covid with such a low death rate, but it's becoming a requirement simply to work and get an education. Some of this is national, most are CA state mandates. There used to be a decent system in place to get state exemptions for those who need them for medical reasons, but it's been pretty much shitcanned in the past few years and the state is threatening to revoke medical licenses from doctors who issue more than five exemptions annually. Any exemptions that have been issued are heavily scrutinized and it's essentially up to whoever you're showing it to to decide whether or not they'll honor it. It seems the policy gets changed just about every other month, my brothers are always in hot water with the school district over it. No one is writing exemptions anymore.

I'm getting real tired of people trying to guilt me into submission. I was bullied by some professors my first few years of college over my politics and race, now I get comments from people about how they got vaxxed "just in case they accidentally spread Covid to someone and they died." No one cares about my situation one bit, but if I don't shut up and fall into line I'm a bigot. The school has signs on every corner with aggressive red lettering: VACCINATIONS REQUIRED FOR ON-CAMPUS STUDENTS WINTER 2022. I have my exemption from the school but I still feel like I'm on thin ice. I have to get tested weekly and I feel like a criminal every time I do. The staff are always rude.

Just getting the exemption was an ordeal, not one professor ever even mentioned exemptions were available when announcing the new vax requirement. The only link to apply for one that I found was in a footnote in an email I got about the requirement, and the link was broken until they sent out another email. No one is accepting medical exemptions at all, so despite my clear and present medical situation I had to apply for a religious exemption. They rejected my first application for really questionable reasons but eventually accepted it.
All of this just to finish the last two semesters of my education and get on with my life.

An inscription from the Berlin Wall-

"All of this in the name of the people."

Here in the free State of Florida, I've not had any problems OR the common cold AKA "covid". I am generally anti-vax, anti-mask and anti-mandates and DeathSantis, our gubna, has not disappointed me. :) In the past almost 2 years I masked up initially to "be polite". But I attended many public gatherings where masking was optional and not an option I chose. I am a Pastor for the Church of the Immune Herd. ;)

PS: don't get me wrong--I DO care about people. And don't want anyone to die unnecessarily. But the "pandemic" has shown what a pussy world we have become. People scared out of their wits by the alarmism (ie: MSNBCNN "deathclocks") propagandastically broadcast non-stop over a virus (ie: with the symptoms and lethality of a "common" cold  ). People so afraid of dying, they have forgotten how to live... :(

Agreed. I'd care more if it was more serious, but quite honestly I don't see what all the fuss is about. It's pretty easy to tell that someone is at risk and protect them, I don't need to put my life on hold just because of what "might" happen. And that's a small "might." I'm far more worried about what will happen if the government isn't put in check, and quick.

In NY there's talks of jail time for unvaccinated and positive cases. That's already the case in Australia.

You fellows make me realize how golden it is here.

I mostly got jabbed just so my wife wouldn’t worry to death. She’s a “believer” of the mighty Oz.

I think this is how crooks get the govt to buy 99.9% water and soothing polymers with our taxes.

Off the top of my head......
Here in Las Vegas NV.
At 55 yrs old. Covid shutdowns caused me to lose my job after 13 yrs.
We can no longer enjoy brunch at our favorite casino. They closed them.
Useless mask mandates in our state.

First an Opinion - Getting "vaccinated", whether for the flu or for covid should be a personal decision and not taken lightly. Especially in light that the covid "vaccine" is not really a vaccine nor has it prevented folks from getting sick.

Living in a rural setting it has been interesting to watch neighbor's reaction to these government mandates. Certainly provides some insights into how they might react if a real crisis happened. Some have been very outspoken that we must all follow the governemnt's edicts to the letter while others have been totally silent. Think it provides some insights into how much you can rely on folks in time of real need.

While we have always maintained stores of provisions includig tools, fuels & other goods we have increased the amount we keep on hand and decreased our monthly trips to town for provisions. This past month we made a single trip to town that consolidated errands and acquired needed resupplies. We are a believer that you should be your own first responded and the recent mandated layoffs across our county's government offices reinforces that position. Some office staffs have been cut by a third and emergency response times have doubled in many cases.

In the past we did lots of traveling. Much internationally. Over the past two years we've not traveled more than a few hundred miles.

Guess the biggest impact of this scaredemic has been an across the board reevaluation of all aspects of our lifestyle. Fortunately, for us the changes have been minimum.

Regards

I think the worst part of it for me is when California closed the fishing lakes. That and those damn masks. We’ve probably bought 1 billion Chinese masks by now and I would like to make Dr. Fauci eat every goddamn one of them.

Funny thing about the masks. I heard they take 100's of years to degrade in a landfill. Arent a lot of the mask nazis also the same people freeking out about global warming and the environment?

After only two years of mandated worldwide mask wearing disposable masks now make up roughly 6% of the Pacific garbage patch. And yes, these are the people who claim to care about the environment while leading an entirely unsustainable urban lifestyle.

I'm positive for covid. After numerous unneeded quarantines it finally caught me. This is the sickest I have been since a real bad bout with the flu 25 years ago. The cough is down a lot as the prednisone is doing its job.
