That's what I figured, I would be getting a better quality round for the same or less. There are plenty of online reloading calculators available.
Years ago I used them to check my cost.
I dont check anymore since what I load is pretty much equal to higher priced Trap loads.
The good stuff runs about $8+ a box and my costs are well below that.
I was reloading at about $4 a box a couple of years ago, and even with the price increase for lead, I am still WELL under the $7 a box that you are paying for the Winchester you are shooting.
I reload for myself and my wife, and we shoot a ton of shells each year. This was most definitely started as a cost savings measure and still is, but I do really like heading into my "Dungeon" turning on the radio to the local country station and just "HIDING" down there reloading for hours at a time. It is my place to escape from the troubles of the world and is extremely therapeutic.
