Revelation 20 Gauge

My Dad picked up a neat old 20 gauge the other day. It is obviously a Mossberg 500, but it is marked Revelation. It looks to be a 26" barrel that is a fixed full choke and is in pretty good shape cosmetically and great shape mechanically. I told Dad he wasn't allowed to sell that one. I'll grab some pics next time I see him.

The old Revelation name was associated with Westen Auto and back in the day these types of guns were known as "Trade Brand Name" and later as "Store Brand Name". Various manufactures made gun for Western Auto and other stores like Sears & Monkey Wards which were sold under the store's brand. These included Mossberg, Marlin and Savage.

It's likely carries a Westen Auto label and designated Model 310C. There might be additional letter following the model number like K, R,or KR denoting various configurations. Back in the day these guns could be purchased for around $100 plus or minus depending on the confriguration and sales.

If I remember right these were produced mainly in the 1960s and 1970s and very early models may not have serial numbers. The Gun Control Act of 1968 was the driver for serial numbers requirements.

Look forward to seeing the pictures especially of the markings.

Hope this info helps (based on my old memory)!

Regards
