IMPORTANT BFT47 RECALL NOTICE

DESCRIPTION OF ISSUE

Century Arms is committed to the durability, success, and customer satisfaction associated with our new rifle, the BFT47. With that commitment in mind, we have identified a potential durability issue in a limited run of BFT47 rifles. The issue may affect proper feeding and/or chambering of ammunition. To assure that every BFT47 meets our high standards, Century is requesting return of the below listed units to guarantee that all rifles possibly affected by this durability issue are inspected and replaced as necessary. If you are in possession of a rifle with a serial number on list found at: https://www.centuryarms.com/media/Rhet/Resources/Post/Attachment/BFT47-recall-notice.pdf, please submit a return request to support@centuryarms.com so we can issue you a return label for your BFT47 rifle. We will inspect the rifles and replace any affected units. Thank you for your assistance on this matter and, as always, we thank you for the support.

STOP USING YOUR BFT47 RIFLE IMMEDIATELY UNTIL IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED WHETHER YOUR RIFLE FALLS WITHIN THE BELOW SERIAL NUMBER LIST. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THIS INSTRUCTION COULD RESULT IN DAMAGE TO YOUR RIFLE.

WHAT TO DO IF YOUR RIFLE IS AFFECTED

Once you have determined, based on its serial number, that your rifle is one of the potentially affected products, please submit a return request to support@centuryarms.com. Your rifle will be inspected by Century and replaced as appropriate to ensure the durability issue has been remedied.

Century will perform all required service to your rifle to ensure its proper function FREE OF CHARGE. We will make every effort to replace your rifle as soon as possible.

I bought a BFT47 a few months back with the hope that it being their new flagship AK it would be worth owning. Made in America, 1.5mm receiver, forged trunnions, nice wood, Lifetime Warranty, and Rob Ski reviewed it and said it was good and was accurate.

Then a month later I heard of the recall. Mine was about 300 numbers outside of the affected serial number range but I still was very disappointed and didn't trust the gun. I called Century and finally got a candid conversation with one of their support people. I told him I didn't trust my gun, and he said over the phone "Yeah, I don't blame you." He admitted it was a heat treating metallurgy problem. I said "You know your company is going to take a gut punch over this," and he replied "Yeah, probably." His name was Weston and at least he was forthright and honest. He didn't just tow the company line and call it a "durability" issue.

I had never fired a single round thru mine and still had the box and docs so I went back to my FFL LGS where I had bought it and asked him what he would do. He said he would give me a full refund in cash which I accepted.
