As I've mentioned in previous posts, some of our towns in MS, were fighting the new State Laws regarding gun control and had (past tense) some very restrictive ordinances on the books. Thanks to the citizens who raised their voices loud and clear, those ordinances are going the way of the dodo bird.

Corinth, MS Feels Pressure from Citizens and Abolishes Gun-Control Ordinance
BY DANA CRISWELL – April 2, 2014
Mississippi gun owners are finding their voice and making major changes in local politics. Within the last few weeks gun owners have made their displeasure known to local politicians who have proposed or refused to rescind gun ban ordinances and through their efforts those local ordinances have been changed.
First in Desoto County the Board of Supervisors were considering an overreaching gun ban in all county parks. Sixty concerned citizens expressed their dissatisfaction with the ordinance and motivated the Supervisors to call a special meeting to change that portion of the proposal.
In Corinth, MS citizens persuaded the Mayor and Aldermen to rescind a “weapons control’ ordinance that went far beyond what state law or the Constitution allowed.
It was reported by Jebb Johnston of the Associated Press that due to the mayor and aldermen receiving numerous e-mails regarding gun laws, the city was planning to remove the gun ordinance.
According to Mayor Tommy Irwin the city plans to, “tear our ordinance up and follow the state law.”
This is good news to citizens who believe the city had overstepped its authority and was in violation of state law. Jay Anthony, coordinator of the Firearms Freedom Day Rallies said, “Somebody has really dropped the ball on the 2nd amendment issue in this town, Your ordinance, as it stands, most of it is against federal law … We don’t want to see Corinth sued.”
At the conclusion of the meeting the board unanimously passed the motion to drop the law from the books.
