2016 Squirrel Hunt With A 410 Bantam

Nice, I've been busy working on my parents garage and haven't made it out yet. The .410 worked well. What was your distance on them and your load?
How do you prepare them to eat?
 
I will do about three of em, quartering them up. I also enjoy roasting the garlic first and with the tree rat.
I let it cook longer in the tomatoes, they can be tough at times.

Tree rat cacciatore
3 squirrels 1/4'd
3 table spoons fresh Thyme
1 teaspoon fresh Rosemary
1/4 cup flour
2 tablespoon extra virgin oil
1/2 cup chopped sweet onion
2/3 cup chopped mushroom
3 cups canned tomatoes
1 bay leaf
16 salt cured black olives
Pasta..your choice.

Coat the meat with salt pepper and half the Thyme then dust with flour
Brown meat med to high heat both sides and set aside
Reduce heat to med cook garlic onion mushrooms
Then add remaining Thyme and Rosemary.
Add the meat, cover with tomatoes, bay leaf, and reduce to med. cover and cook for 35 min
Uncover, add olives, bring heat back to high.
reduce liquid slightly and recheck seasoning.

Serve to hungry hunters over the choice of pasta...
 
I made 10 yards to 30 yards shots. The 30 yard shots was to the top of the ponderosa pines which took a couple of shots to drive them out for a clean shot. I was using very expensive 3in Federals.410 Shells.jpg
