Has anyone mounted a Mesa Tactical Barrel/Magazine clamp and had it move during recoil and mar the finish? What is the best way to secure this and not have it move?

Most barrel/magazine clamps will move under recoil unless tightened to about 30 in lbs.

The Mesa clamp may not work for this, but the Nordic can be placed directly behind the sight tower on an SPX and the clamp won't be able to move forward under recoil. Another solution again requires a part change as the Nordic MXT extension tubes have a groove in them that keeps the clamp from moving. They don't always (depending on length) allow you to use the Nordic clamp because of the SPX sight tower.

Your clamp moves, even when notched into the MXT tube groove, or are you using a Mesa clamp and/or tube without the groove? We use a torque driver and have found that 30 in lbs is about as tight as you want to go and it seems to hold well on models without the groove. If a rail and light is also attached, all bets are off.
