Barska Colorado on a 500?

I've got a 500 that came with two barrels. One is the 24" rifled barrel with scope mount. The gun also came with a BSA Deerhunter 2.5x20 scope. A couple months ago I got a Barska Colorado 3-9x40 scope. I put it on my Marlin 795 with the intention of leaving it there. I'm now thinking of just using iron sights on the 795, and was wondering if the Colorado would work with the 500 or if the recoil would be too much? Both scopes are rifle scopes.

It'd probably be alright.

I've owned a couple different barska scopes and they've been pretty good. But I've never tried them on a shotgun, and like anything else, I've heard good stories and bad, but all of mine have been alright.

Though 9x magnification would probably be overkill for the distance most folks shoot a slug at, but you don't necessarily have to crank it all the way up either if you didn't need to.
