Electronic ears for shotgun/rifle

Mystery Meat

Copper BB
Hi Guys-

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this.

I haven't been able to find any information about electronic ears on this site.

I'm looking for a good quality set of ears that will stay on when recoil makes the stock strike the headphones, or something shaped to minimize contact with the stock. Some ears interfere with the cheek weld. What works for you?

I'd like electronic ears so I can hear speech around me, and range commands. The higher NRR value the better. NRR ratings go from about 19 into the low 30s. The higher the number the more hearing protection it provides. There seems to be quite a few choices for non-electronic ones, but not so much for electronic.

I've already lost some of my hearing, and I'm trying to keep the rest of it. I've tried wearing ear plugs under the headphones, but I have a tough time hearing speech.

Any suggestions for specific models that you have tried personally that worked for you?

Thank you,
Larry

Howard Leight Impact Sport 2 are the lowest profile quality ear muffs that I have used to date. They will still cause some issues with cheek weld as do any eaf muffs.

Radians Tac Ear are very low profile electronic hearing protection that I have been testing with fairly good results but I have not had enough time using them to give a really good opinion on them.

Radians Enhance Ear are another pair that I am currently testing but again I haven't used them long enough to really comment on long term reliability.

Thanks, Dan. I'll give the Impact Sport 2 a try.

The Impact Sport model has pretty good reviews on Amazon. The Radians, not so much. I'll be interested in reading your review of the Radians when you are ready to share them.

Pro ears gold.....they are amazing ..... pricey but how much is your hearing worth ?

I use the Howard Leight Impact Sports even for hunting. Helps with my bad hearing but I hear EVERY little noise around me (except the wind...it does well not picking up all the wind noise).
