I have the forend installed on my 590A1. At first I didnt think it was goin on, but I got it! It was a super tight fit on the 590A1's action tube. It should be an easy fit for the 500 or 590.

I really like it, its a solid aluminum extrusion and a little different than whats pictured above. The rails in the pic dont actually conform to the 1913 mil-spec standard because they arent a solid surface across the raised portion of the rail but are plowed through the center. The new version, which isnt pictured, does meet the 1913 standard and is not plowed through but is solid across the top surface. As explained to me during my informal interview with Mr Steve Hines of Falcon Industries, this redesigned railed forend allows Falcon Industries to better compete for military contracts.

I'll have many more pics and details as I'm able!

Thanks Dan, I think its stayin on there! I'll explain later, lol!

First Impressions:
The Ergo railed forend is absolutely solid, its one piece of aluminum. Its not indexed nor is it drilled to be made lighter. I dont consider that an issue. Its not overly heavy by any means, and there are few applications where indexing would be useful or needed. You'll also notice the difference between the stock photo from Ergo and the photo I posted. Ergo's stock photo shows the rails with a "plowed through" design. I knew in advance the rail I was getting would not be the same but be solid across the top. Mr. Hines of Ergo explained to me the plowed design is not "technically" mil-spec. The rail was changed to conform to the 1913 picatinny standard and has since been submitted for military testing. It allows Ergo to better compete for military contracts. The Ergo forend is reasonably priced and early testing indicates its a great product! I call that quality and value!

Installation:
Like any other forend, the nut needs to be removed from the action tube. If you have a socket for it, thats gonna make it easier, however, the trigger can be pulled and the cartridge stop and interupter and bolt slide to get the forend off. The whole process including the installation of the new part can be completed in 10 minutes. Not for me though. The Ergo rail does fit the 590A1 mag tube, but it was unbelivably tight. Tight enough I didnt think it would go. I ended up setting the forend on a rubber matt and carefully driving the action tube in with a rawhide mallet. It would have held even without replacing the nut. Tight isnt strong enough a word. So its on there and I dont see it comin back off anytime soon. Otherwise I'd try it on a 500 to compare the fit!

Use:
The forend conforms to the mil standard 1913. It can be used to mount any picatinny accessory to your shotgun from lights, to forgrips. It can also be customized with any rail cover. It really offers a very solid mounting platform which allows you as the user to customize the capabilities of your shotgun. You may want a versatile mounting platform for an HD gun, or you may even be building the ultimate Zombie Apocalypse firearm. Totally your call there, but whichever way you go, Ergo has given you options!

Alright! I feel comfortable enough with the shooting I've done to move forward with the review. Video will be addded pretty soon!

After quite a bit of 00 buck and rifled slugs, both full power, I am very comfortable and confident with the Ergo Tri-Rail. Its rock solid, and attractive, depending on what youre going for... (though more on that later as I also have rail covers that more closely resemble sporting guns) I prefer it as it adds an element of functionality and versatility well above and beyond a standard forend, and is very reasonable priced compared to its competitors. Like half the cost! Dont be fooled, less expensive doesnt mean anything is sacrificed in the design.

The forend handled everything flawlessly and is not a hindrance to my practiced motions, I love not having to relearn my firearm when changing out parts or pieces! There is no extra movement or wiggle or rattling, its super snug and completely solid with the gun. Another thing I am very pleased with is that the shape, being more square than round, isnt at all an issue. With the AFG it is very comfortable and easy to manipulate.

Video will be coming soon!!!

Thanks for the update. I was looking at this and thought it might be a good piece of kit. More money going to missing from the account!

Although I'm pretty new here, I'd like to be able to put in my opinion of the Ergo railed forend.

I've owned one 2 or 3 years and it has been great. I have no 2nd thoughts about being able to recommend them to anyone wanting/needing a place to mount gear on their shotgun.

The only bit of advice I would offer to anyone is that there are different lengths, so know what you're buying to save a trip to mail it back because you ordered the wrong one.

Also, an AR15 buttstock wrench will install/remove the 500A encap nut.

I looked at how everyone else is mounting grips and things, but I've done mine a little differently than everyone else.

I put a tango down verticle grip on the bottom rail for when the gun is shouldered, and another grip on the side rail for when the gun is fired from the hip, and a light on the right rail for night shoots.
