Ok, you asked for it. No carry arounds, just a place to put it in the house. Made this one a few years ago for a friends daughter. Don't have an inside pic, and it's not fitted for a particular handgun:

I carry all my handguns to and from the range in a soft sided Canon camera bag with multiple compartments. All but one that is. Had to get a hard case for the STI 10mm because it was giving my other pistols an inferiority complex...





Picked up the case at Lowes, I believe. It was made for power drills, impact drivers, etc. but it suits my needs well...

Also have a smaller one I use for airline travel. The side latches work with TSA locks and the case itself meets all their requirements...

Other than generic ones this is the only one that was expensive. IIRC it cost me almost a grand.

I have that same case nite and you're spot on with the price. They're not cheap...
