The new 835 i have, when you point the barrel up or down it sounds like the spring is sliding up and down. Is this normal? Not a problem, just curious.

Most likely the magazine plug. Did you check the mag tube to see if there is a small dowel in there? Its used to limit the gun to 3 rounds to be Fed compliant for waterfowl.

You only need the plug there when hunting waterfowl, you can remove it the rest of the time.
