Low brass shells

Wrenches

.270 WIN
I was checking out the demos on Youtube about Spartan 12 gauge OO Bucks. It is the low brass kind but it showed the velocity at 1300+ fps. That's not a low recoil load is it?

Do low brass mean something like low recoil or are they just cheap?

Wrenches,

1300 +/- is mid-velocity.
1600 is the old traditional full power 1-oz load.
1135 is very low recoil and is only good for very limited applications. Leather jackets have been known to defeat it in a 00-buck loading.

High brass was developed decades ago to be quickly identifiable to hunters that they held heavier shot payloads an/or higher velocities and usually #6, #5, #4 or larger upland hunting loads.

High brass is no stronger than low brass as far as withstanding chamber pressures and such.

^ What he said.

The Spartan is definitely not low recoil, but performs surprisingly well for value priced ammo. Put about a dozen rounds of it into targets this morning and got consistent 6" shot spread out of it at 10yd...
