Maverick 88 12g Barrel Question

Hi All, New to the board, little confused on the Maverick 88, been looking for a answer on this question, maybe I missed it on this board. I know the Mossberg barrels are interchangeable from the 500 to the Maverick 88 if you have the same gauge and length. That being said:

Will a Mossberg 500 20 gauge 20 inch barrel work on my Maverick 88 12 gauge 20 inch barrel.

I dont want to change out the magazine tube for other size barrels. I would like my wife to shoot the gun and have the best of both worlds.

NO you need to have 12ga for a 12ga,,,,,and a 20ga for a 20ga.

The Mav 88 barrel will fit the 500 and vise versa.
