Howdy noeffort, and welcome to the club! Certainly clean it before shooting it. (unloaded) Check it out, see the "guts" and how they go together. There you will find the factory grease, usually, a few peeps have opened their gun up to find it bone dry, so that's another reason to open 'er up. You need to get rid of that stuff. If you have a gun cleaning kit, use it. A clean gun is a happy gun. It's real easy to do, and once you do it a few it gets easier to do every time.
You do not have to take apart the "trigger assembly", you clean it assembled, and it's tricky to get back together if you do. You can still clean it, just clean it with some Q-tips or a similar item...
If you have seen the video's on field stripping it, then you know it's easy. But if you'd like to see it again here ya go....it even shows how it goes back together... the video is only 5:55 long...it shouldn't take you much time to take it apart and then put it back together, cleaning it is the time consumer...
