putting a bayonet lug on a 500?

So i have a 500 with what appears to be the 590 magazine cap i was curious if i could put a 20 inch barrel on it with a magazine extension and some kind of bayonet lug? Id like to do this for another project and don't want to buy a 590.

That is the famous 590-500. It is marked and sold as a 500 but is an 18.5 barreled 590.

You can put a mag extension on it but not a bayonet lug.

You can put an extended 590 mag and then a 590 barrel that has a bayonet lug.

Or you can get a 500 with a bayonet lug. Confused yet? Here is a picture!

Im having a hard time finding a 590 barrel alone.

Have you tried Mossberg directly?

Their barrels sell for around $150 and the last time I bought a mag tube from them it was $34 for the tube and $4 for the spring. You just need to know the specific barrel you want when you call. If you can't find the part number for the barrel, the easiest way to get it done is to find the model number for the factory 590 or 590A1 configuration that has barrel you want and request a replacement barrel for that model.
