Wax Slugs... A Thing of the Past!

3D Rapid Prototype'd Slugs.... Welcoming the Next Generation of Reloading and Home "Casting" Boolits  .. Okay so maybe not quite the "Next Generation" of reloading and high performance shotgun projectile... But pretty neat nonetheless

I was expecting to come in here and see this....

It's made by the same folks who made the awesome dupo28 and hexolit32 steel frangible slugs.

This Kaviar 26L essentially takes all the great things of of wax slug; greater range(then birdshot), quick dissipation of energy(with devastating effects on target), some barrier penetration with effective impact only on immediate targets and minimal to no over penetration compared to a solid slug in soft targets.... BUT it's manufactured in a solid polymer instead of unstable and messy wax and its weighted and assembled in a manner to create a consistent ballistic effect from round to round.

I was told that the new US distributor should have these in sometime mid summer along with all their other wonderful offerings that have run dry since they lost their last US based distributor.

I'm not even mildly interested in a printed slug.

Especially from what I was seeing in the first video.

Especially.....those guys are lame as hell, not a clue what they are doing.

And wax slugs have always been a thing of the past in my book, almost as lame as those guys lol

My whole issue with it is power factor.

This is a total waste of it.

The whole point of using a shotgun slug (to me) is so you can have decent penetration.

Anything that bounces of a half inch thick piece of pine shelving board, is total fail in my book. Why not just shoot them with a paintball or rubber buck or .177 pellet or a rubber band because that would be the same difference in my book?

9 year old boys in karate class karate chop pine boards in two harder than that slug hits.

While I certainly wouldn't use a wax slug for any type of serious use, I have enjoyed punching holes in stuff with wax slugs. I mean hell, they'll go throw container steel (well, so does a .22 :D ). Not everyone can have their own casting and reloading operation you know... poor guys like me have to resort to crayons and hot plates

My sarcasm was overlooked... :| lol

On a more serious note, there are some machines that can 3D print with metal now. Imagine the things you could do with the internal structure of a slug on a 3D printer that you can't with a mould. I know the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" but there is so much that could be explored as far as structure, shape, weight and what not.. IMHO
