144 LSB Maxizine problems.

I purchased a 144 LSB with a replacement magazine and it doesnt feed after the first couple rounds. The magazine is not snapping in place and I think it is backing out. If I open the bolt, I can get it to engage. Question #1. It is supposed to engage with the bolt closed, right? #2. Pictures I've seen of OEM magazines show a small a small rectangular notch on the right side near the top. My magazine doesn't have this. Should it?

OEM mags are rare. Promag and Triple K make replacements. Anybody heave any experience with them?
 
I took a closer look at the magazine and founf the locating taps had been filed. It was enough to make it fit with the bolt open but not enough if the bolt was closed. I filed it some more, now it fits. Checked it with a full magazine and it seems to work. heading to the range for a test.
