The Military Channel will be hosting a new series called TRIGGERS this Wednesday night ( November 30th ) at 10pm EST. It's mandate is to provide a historical documentary on the "weapons that have changed the world". The premiere episode will cover the M1911...

I look forward to hearing everyone's comments on tonights and all the future episodes here in this thread.

Crap! this sounds like homework! lol

I hope I remember it by the time I get home! Sounds like it will be a good series if done right!

Well...I checked out the first episode...and, well...not really sure if I like it yet !!

The host, Wil Willis is kinda gee wilikers...like he knows a little, but is being schooled by the guests.

It's a cross between Mail Call ( material ), Top Shot ( camera angles, slow-mo, shoot-outs ), but without a good host like say... Mack from Weaponology, who definitely knows his stuff.

It was entertaining...a little, with the historical re-enactments thrown in.

I'll give it a C+ or on a scale of one to ten...a solid 5 !!

What say you guys...!?

I have to agree about the host.

From the shows website;

"Wil Willis

Previously host of Military Channel's hit series SPECIAL OPS MISSION, Wil Willis is a man whose vast array of military training and knowledge has earned him unparalleled tactical skill sets. Willis joined the Army 1993, and after completing basic training AIT and Basic Airborne School, he completed the Ranger Indoctrination Program (R.I.P.) and was assigned to a Co. 3d Battalion 75th Ranger Regt. Willis carried that post until June, 1998 when he cross-trained to the Air Force. After completing the Air Force Pararescue Pipeline, he was stationed at the 56th Rescue Squadron in Keflavik, Iceland as part of a ten-man Pararescue Team.

In 2001, Willis received the Sirkorsky Rescue Award for actions leading to the squadrons 299th Rescue. In 2002, Willis was stationed at Kirtland, NM as an Instructor of Weapons, Tactics, and Air Operations. In August, 2007, he enlisted in the Air Force Reserves and was a Pararescueman with the 308th Rescue Squadron until August, 2008. Willis currently resides in California and teaches Tactical Combat Casualty Care to deploying military units."

If he is as knowlageable as he is laid out to be I would like him to take a more active role in the history of the weapon without the act of knowing nothing about the firearm and needing to be schooled in it. That aspect of the show left me with a dead fish host feeling.

It does seem like they are trying to bring some "Top Shot" appeal to the show with the obviously scripted "candid" dialog and personal challanges they just so happened to be set up for in advance.

HA.. i already set mine...i was actually coming in today to tell everyone about it. and i agree with ripsnortrs and shooters posts about the host. boo...hiss...

Just watched the second installment of this series...this time the featured weapon was the M1 Garand.

The host is still too "deer in the headlights" for me, not bringing any real expertise to the table, but the content was a little better...even though it didn't really flesh out the topic to any extent. Just more helter skelter running around with shootouts that didn't prove much.

You would think that the M1 Garand could be explored more in depth...

Yes...so true. I also didn't like the shooting range thing he did....well, it was ok.. but it coulda been better.

Yea rip...it was obvious that the M1 Garand had it over any of the Axis Power bolt actions, like the Mauser and Arisaka...so what was the point of the exercise.

My brothers 17 year old kid shoots better than the host...you could see where he actually missed at what was only 50 yards ( according to him...it looked closer to me !! )
