I've read posts on another board by a Remington shotgun vendor who swears by steel wool wrapped around a wooden dowel for cleaning anything out of a shotgun barrel.

I had to use Hoppes and steel wool to get the lead off the mag tube and the gas piston area. I used a brass brush, Hoppes, Brake Clean and then finished off with Break Free CLP for inside the barrel.

I saw somewhere too, where someone used steel wool for inside a shotgun barrel.
