Five Machetes for 20 Bucks!

Heck no ya cant beat it! Dang, if you can put an edge on em and oil em... Youre good to go!!! Good find!

I had the panga machete (top one). They are a useful tool for heavier stuff. The only problem with it was the wood handle. The handle broke after a year of use. I eventually replaced the handle with pvc . They are carbon steel, so oil them after each use. That is a great price for the collection. I am tempted to place an order myself. :)

Take a look at this webpage for different styles of machetes and their uses.

Machetes arrived today.
Just as JL said, they are dull but good carbon steel.

My son wants to put a file to them right now (bed time in our time zone).
I told him he can start sharpening tomorrow.

A good file, a coarse stone, a liberal dose of oil (the only liberal thing about me) and they will be great tools for the zombie apocalypse!

Well worth 20 bones!

I ordered a set as well.

The handles are a little rough but some sandpaper will smooth them out. Not too sharp but that can be corrected as well. Overall well worth the $20. I'll post a pic tomorrow, my card reader is at work. DOH!

My fav is the one on the left.

Okay, sharpened up a couple of these.
They seem to be pretty good hard steel (nothing extraordinary, just good carbon steel).
They took an edge well (started with a file and then moved to a stone).
I wailed away on a stump with one of the two I sharpened and it held up well.
They are machetes and not axes so I had to hit it with a stone again after to get a keen edge back on it.

Enjoy
