Good morning

Good Morning Mossberg Forum !!

Heading out for lunch with the Wife...it's her Birthday.

Enjoy your day...

Morning all!!

Got the car fixed yesterday, it was the alternator. Unfortunagely, being far from home when it decided to croak, I was forced to pay a dealer to install a new one.

That reminds me of the fuel pump dying while I was driving down a country road, without my cell phone. After walking a couple of miles, a car finally came by and took me to my house.

That little red light on the dash doesn't come on until it's too late to do anything except buy a new alternator. It comes on when your battery voltage is higher than your alternator voltage because the alternator stops producing voltage and starts turning into a ground.

At that point that red light is just helping to discharge your battery faster!

When the alternator is dying (or maybe it's just not turning because you broke/slipped a belt) and your battery is discharging, the light will just barely glow and you won't see it in the daytime.

As the alternator burns completely out, it becomes a hundred percent ground relative to the battery, and the light goes bright red until your battery goes dead and it goes out completely.

You can get an inexpensive voltmeter that will tell you there's a problem way before the red light comes on.

There's a plug in cigarette lighter type you can buy at Walmart which has four LEDs on it. That will tell you way more than the red light on your dash.

Anyhow a voltmeter is the proper thing to have if you want to avoid problems with the electrical system.

An ammeter doesn't tell you much until after you are past the point of no return, unless you have a serious short or drain on the system. You will already know at that point because of the smoke pouring out from under the dash.

The red light you will notice about the time that your car starts to die.

To get totally off topic, I had a 6 volt Volkswagen with a bad regulator, and I was 50 miles from home. I bought two six volt Flashlight batteries at an all night Mini Mart, disconnected the ignition coil, and hot wired those batteries right to the coil.

I had to push start the car but I made it all the way home, never using the headlights or accessories, but just running the engine off of those flashlight batteries.

By the way good morning you guys and well some of you have snow and ice we have mid-60s and new grass.

It's a very small lawn which suits me just fine.

We're at about 19 right now.

Thank you Rico. It's really my wife that deserves better thanks because she keeps driving me on. If I didn't have her, I would probably live in a small trailer in the corner of a big workshop full of motorcycles and hot rods.

Now that I have the yard looking pretty good I'm going to have to remodel the kitchen and bathrooms.

I had these Lawns sodded when we came 15 years ago but they were so full of weeds & Bermudagrass that I just had it all ripped out and started over.

I still have to design & put in a drip system that is dog proof. They just munch all that PVC stuff for a snack.

I'm thinking I'll forget the plastic stuff and go with copper tubing. Then I'll acid wash it and get it all brown and green & antique looking. I'll try to come up with something artistic looking and not so much like a plumber's nightmare.

But I'm tired of buying PVC, HDPE, & ABS dog snacks.

If you don't keep them well fed they will just eat through the fence and go find something to kill on their own.

I was going to put brass sprinklers out there but my wife was afraid that the dogs would break their teeth thinking they could still eat the damn things.

Mornin! Going to tball with the grand kiddoe and Reconnecting with his deadbeat junkie dad. It's been 3 years. Not sure if I'm going to slug em yet.....too early to think about it....
Don't think about it. If you do its premeditated. ;D

Good Morning MO's!!!

Orderred an AR barrel in .223 Wylde last night. Found a good deal on one. Curious if this chambering will group noticibly better than my 223/5.56 barrels. Been looking at them for a long time and I could not pass up $56 for an 18" 1:7.

Yes, I'm a bargain hunter and we are back to a buyers market when it comes to gun parts. Stock up my Brothers!!!!!

Good morning Mossberg forum, and a good morning especially to you dedicated core members that make this place such a joy to attend.

My wife has a new kitten. It has not been such a joy. For a week it didn't come out from under the bed which was just fine, but now it's overcome its fear of the unknown.

Now it's in love with me and I can't get rid of the silly thing.

Try it and post pix.

I know, but when it comes to wives it's better just to let those things go Scoop. ;)

Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll eat the new cat.

Kittens are tbe devil!!!!!!

Prologue: Many years ago I agreed to ONE dog, which turned into two which turned into three. The last one was a rescue I said no to.

A few weeks ago my GF and I had a discussion about cats because she wanted to foster. She knows my feeling on pets as we have this discussion almost weekly whenever she sees some cute adorable dog, cat, bunny, whatever. I said NO way, that we could not take in any more animals....

Fast forward a week.. she came home with two kittens!!!!! Two very outgoung kittens with 6 inch steel claws that like to climb every friggen thing in the house including my legs.... Even when I am wearing shorts around the house. They are not afraid of the dogs or anything.

Ok maybe the steel claws are an exaggeration but it sure feel like it.

History: We had A dog growing up but I have never been an animal person, I don't hate them, I just do not care to have the stress and responsibility of having multiple pets. I have grown to love the dogs we have despite that but I am still not an animal person.

If I die of a stroke or an annurism in the near future, you now know why.

And I will preemptively state that no, I do not have children. ;D

Good morning, er afternoon Mossbergers. High thin clouds and 60 right now. I had to take the pooch to Oklahoma City to a specialist this morning. He has/had a torn achilles tendon. They are going to operate this afternoon and I will go pick him up tomorrow morning. I am sure relieved it was a joint problem.

Ya'll have a great day and be safe.

Morning MO's!!

Got 8" or more snow yesterday. Took me 4.5 hours to traverse tbe 70 miles from work to home. Insanity!!

Haven't had a chance to get the plow hooked up to the ATV so I was happy when the snow blower fired up. Its been sitting since the winter before last. Needs a bit of a cleaning and spark plug but it chewed threw it like nothing.
