Guns and elections

I don't like the way the primaries have played out much, but I'm going to bite the bullet and vote in November

First a little history and some simple math.

Presidential election of 2012:
65,915,796 Winner Obama (D)
60,993,500 Loser Romney (R)

5 million popular vote margin

Shifting only 2.5 million voters from Winner to Loser changes the popular vote the other way.

Of the 66 million Obama voters about 20 million were in gun owning households.
If just half of those 20 million were to have voted against Obama [FOR GUNS] proportionately across the US only the following states would have maintained a majority for (D) and the Electoral College would have flipped.
MD 10, CA 55, DC 3, DE 3, NJ 14, CT 7, RI 4, MA 11, VT 3, NY 29

for a total of 139 Electoral votes. That is well short of the 270 needed to elect.

Do you see my point so far.
OK. Some of you didn’t.

GUNOWNERS CAN CONTROL THE ELECTION!

So that wraps up the past.

Now look at the future. I’m going to make some assumptions so you can judge the validity of my conclusions on that basis.

I. The next POTUS will be either Trump or Clinton.
2. One Supreme Court seat will be vacant.
3. The Republicans will maintain control of the Senate and House.
4. If elected, Clinton will “attack gun owners on her very first day.”

See video at 00:40, 02:07, and 04:10.
5. You won’t like Clinton’s “first day” if she gets in.
6. You won’t like Clinton’s Supreme Court nomination.

Now, I’m going to reveal my political stand here. I don’t particularly like either Trump or Clinton. There was no candidate I agreed with 100%. I would have preferred a Frankenstein where I could pick monetary policy of one and military policy from another, fiscal another, and so on. But I seldom get what I want, and this election is not going to change that.

Now I am begging.

Do as I am going to do. VOTE NOT-CLINTON. I don’t care if you have your signed #neverTrump card in your wallet. I don’t care if all 9 of your family’s generations voted Democrat. The NOT-CLINTONs need your vote. If you are a gun-owning Democrat, please vote NOT-CLINTON.

Gun owners CANNOT afford to let her in.

Imagine your gun cabinet in 8 years after registration, insurance requirements, ammo taxes, attacks on retailers, banning mail-order, home inspections, confiscation,” environmental” regulation, health info reviews. If you have been reading long enough, you know those are not just some nightmares of mine. No, my friends, those are plans already in the anti-gun party’s playbook.

GUNOWNERS CAN CONTROL THE ELECTION!

Tell others. Do not “sit out” the election with a pout on your face. CONTROL your fate as a GUNOWNER.

VOTE NOT CLINTON which means VOTE REPUBLICAN

I hope those of you who disagree with me will tell me where I am wrong.

If you agree with me tell me how I can improve my presentation.

Make your own presentation.

Please.

Well of course the ballots will have no space that will say "not Clinton".

So I'm not quite sure how this is going to work.

Do we have to write NOT Clinton as a write-in vote?

But I just had a weird idea.
I'm going to save it for another thread.

Unfortunately, voting NON-CLINTON without thought about voting for someone who can beat her will still result in her being elected. There are a lot of NON-CLINTONS on the ballot. Green, Libertarian, etc. Splitting votes to make one "feel good" about voting can bring about the very result you (and the rest of us I assume) are trying to prevent. You know that the DNC will be using every available resource to get people out to vote for their candidate while the RNC is still pouting about not getting their way. The RNC is divided while the DNC will unite behind their chosen one. If you don't want the bitch in the WH you're going to have to knuckle down, swallow your pride and vote for Trump (assuming he is the nominee). No way around it.

Oh, BTW, the next President will get to nominate up to 5 SCOTUS justices in the next 3-5 years. Death and retirement will see to that. Think about that for a minute.

Sorry it's early in the morning and I thought you were being more literal.

. . . knuckle down, swallow your pride and vote for Trump (assuming he is the nominee). No way around it. . . .

You don't have to assume he is the nominee as We can write in Trump. If he's populist enough he could be the first write-in president.

But the reality of the situation is Trump is the only one who can beat Hillary because he's the only one that can unite all of the anti Hillary's.

See all the Joe Sixpacks of this nation would be proud to vote for Trump while the Literati (Joe's bosses and creditors) will hate the task so much they will tend to fail, grasping at the nontrump straws The difference (hopefully) is that the Literati are mostly smart enough to do what they hate, in order to get what they need: A nonhillary POTUS.

Thank you, Ohio. You and I are in exact agreement on this point. Compare my answer in "May question of the month"

You and Cadd have pointed out a significant shortcoming in my attempt at subtlety and cleverness.

My message is:

Gun owners, BEAT HILLARY. VOTE REPUBLICAN.

In these situations I always remember the words of the Lord Admiral Nelson who said to forget about strategy and tactics and go straight at the enemy with everything you can muster.

In other words, in dire circumstances it pays to be direct.

Some of the things you mention that Clinton will likely implement are already being implanted on the state level in a few places.

There's no question about it. There is no "if". I can't believe the amount of people saying they can't support Trump. Those people are ok with Hillary then? Trump isn't my first pick either but he is now the nominee. Regan said if you agree with 80% of what he said, then vote for him, there is no perfect candidate. The underpinnings of socialism is here already, the infrastructure is in place, guns are the corner stone. There won't be an outright confrontation to take guns, but enough young people support socialism that what's tolerated today will be fully embraced tomorrow and our grandchildren won't remember a time when people had guns and were able to shoot recreationally.

This election is that serious.

I just read what Paul Ryan says.

He would "like to support" Trump, but basically he'll not do it until Trump kisses the party's ass some more.

He wants Trump to do most of the compromising.

Hopefully Trump will tell Ryan to kiss his ass.

Glenn Beck is responding to something Alex Jones said by referring to Trump as proud and evil. He is advocating the rise of a conservative third party.

Glenn Beck is still very #nevertrump and will in part be responsible for Hillary's election to office. For a guy who cares so much about our country and liberty, how can one say he dislikes one guy so much because he isn't conservative enough and he's an evil liar so I'll be a part of electing someone so much worse? Someone who definitively poses a very real and significant threat to personal liberty. We're hanging on by only a thread now as it is.

I don't share Beck's view of reality.
He's right about just enough things that he can pull people into believing nonsense with his emotional BS.

The next president will probably be selecting more than one Supreme Court justice (lifetime positions). That alone ought to be enough for gun owners to vote Republican, but that is just me. Take care. Tom Worthington

And sadly, Nobama already saw to it a great man was murdered in his sleep... Yes, I said it and I believe it. Just like until I see a dead Bin Laden, I will believe he is alive and well and serving as one of Nobama's most-trusted advisors...

And look to Bernie to suffer an "accident" soon in true Clinton "problem-solving" fashion. Expect witnesses for her Email debacle to start dropping like flies soon...

Well I don't believe that the Clintons have personally murdered, anyone but I'm pretty sure that their minions are quite guilty. Whether the Clintons personally ordered such things is unknown, but we do know that they happened. Political enemies turned up dead.

Of course if Trump runs as a third party, totally different situation!

The man is such a loose canon I can imagine him telling Ryan and his buddies to go screw off.

I have been a lifelong republican that grew up with democrat parents. I will be going to the courthouse this summer to disaffiliate myself with them. I don’t think that the republican establishment gives a crap about me. Oh, I will pull the lever for Trump over Hillary but the republicans anymore make me feel like I drank the slower acting of two poisons. They will ruin the country but at a slower rate than the democrats. My final tipping point evolved over the last 8 years as they sat back, let Obama damage the country and how they treated non establishment candidates. It should be a wake up call that even with all their manipulations their top two primary candidates are the two they hated. The fact they make it clear that they hated the conservatives tells me all I need to know about them.

Here is a quote from a republican establishment a-hole during the primaries: "The media has created the perception that the voters choose the nomination. That's the conflict here," Curly Haugland, an unbound GOP delegate from North Dakota, told CNBC's "Squawk Box" on Wednesday. He even questioned why primaries and caucuses are held. According to him the parties pick the candidate and we peons get to “vote” on one of them.

The republican establishment has made it clear that they prefer big government. They don’t share the conservative vision of a smaller less intrusive federal government, Go back 16 years (or more) and their record is awful:
Border – they did nothing to slow the illegal alien problem under 8 years of Bush and they sat and watched as Obama made it worse. They want the cheap labor just as the dems want them as voters.
Obamacare – They have done little to try and overturn Obamacare. Under 8 years of Bush they did nothing to try and fix the medical industry issues or runaway costs.
Bloated nanny state – The federal empire grew under Bush and they did little to change that under Obama. You won’t find anything in the establishment platform espousing smaller government.
Bring jobs and money back from offshore – Their record here indicates that they support big business first even when that means moving jobs offshore.
Federal Debt – Ran it up to unheard of levels under Bush, sat back and without a tooth and nail fight let Obama run it up even more.
Conservatives – The establishment makes it clear that they hold conservativism in contempt. Go back and they hated Reagan. They like middle of the road rino’s like McCain, Romney, Kasich etc.

Yes, I will pull their lever as they are better on guns. Way better. Beyond that I don’t expect much from the republican establishment.

I agree with carbinemike...

I've been working the polls for the Republicans for over 20 years now...16 of them where I live now...and my due diligence to the way the GOP runs at the grass roots level has helped me see the true nature of the beast.

While I believe, as Mike does...that the Election Process in general...and the GOP in particular is flawed...my progress in the party ( just became the Republican Committee Man for Ward #9 in Abington Township, Montgomery County, PA where I reside )...has me in a position now where I can start to influence what is happening at my level as I try to make a difference from the ground up.

I urge everyone else who has seen what the Republican Party is evolving into will take the initiative to speak up and work within the party to make it become the conservative voice of the people... as it should be !!

And if you cannot in good conscience vote for Trump...at least pick Republican Party members who are running for both Federal and State positions in your area and lift them further into the ranks of the GOP so that in the future we as a party will have candidates worth the presidency of this great nation.

A vote for Trump or any Republican IS a VOTE AGAINST Hillary Clinton and everything she stands for...

SO...PLEASE VOTE THIS NOVEMBER...and VOTE REPUBLICAN !!
