Bayonet Lug Threaded Hole

Newly purchased a 590A1 and noticed a threaded screw hole on the bottom of the bayonet lug. What is the purpose of the threaded screw hole? Thank you!

Welcome. That is for a sling swivel stud.

Thank you Old Mossy. Are these standardized or is a specific one required for the 590A1?

They are pretty much standard for the 500 and 590 as long as the thread size is 10-32.

Thank you for the information. The sling attachment screw on the magazine cap was removed and transplanted in the drilled and tapped hole on the bayonet lug. A replacement machine screw was put in the magazine cap. Sling swivels are now in place and a Blue Force Gear Vickers Padded Sling is on the way. The picatinny flashlight mount was also transplanted from the Remington 870 DM and a Osprey Flashlight has been installed. Its coming together.

Thanks for the picture. With that pic rail and light you won’t be able to mount the bayonet. Seems a shame to lose the capability.
