All right GUN PORN ! LOL.... That's a nice Commander!
Haha! That's what the thread is all about, right? Now hold your breath for the sequel: I was so impressed by this Commander, and so worried that Colt might disappear or see its prices go through the roof, that I'll be picking up a better-endowed co-star, a Series 80 Government. Pics from the shoot next week! :)

OK, here's only a teaser because I was able to pick up my O1991, but not to shoot or clean it yet. I have medallion grips ready for this bad boy too. It looks just about as well made as the Commander except that the rails at the back of the slide are a little off on one side (the slide sticks out a bit), but that Commander's fit and finish is semi-custom-like. I hope its big brother shoots as well.

Oh my.... More Gun PORN ..... My brother picked up one of these a couple of months ago, feels really nice in the hand, shoots beautiful, I told him if he ever gets tired of it to let me know, I'd be happy to give it a new home ! LOL...

I didn't think I would, but I like the rosewood grips that Colt uses. Problem is: they don't have any medallions and I'm not a huge fan of double diamond grips. So here's a few more pics with the new walnut grips and after 250 rounds. I'll also replace the plastic MSH with a smooth one on this gun and its little brother the Commander, but otherwise will leave the guns stock and as old school as possible. This Government is as well made as the other Colt I have: nothing fancy - just tighter than you'd think and without any visual flaws. I'd guesstimate the trigger weight at about 6 lbs, which feels heavy at the range, but is fine for me as a defense gun.
I wish I could say it was as reliable as the Commander, but no dice: 6 malfs with ball and HP. I didn't expect that with a 5" Colt. The gun was dirtier than usual from the factory and I think the extractor had too much tension. So I cleaned it up, adjusted the extractor, polished the breech face, replaced the recoil spring with a Wolff heavy duty (18.5 lb), removed the series 80 parts and will shoot it some more as soon as I have the time with a better mag than my tired range ones. We'll see how that goes, but the front sight is a little loose so this gun has some shop time in its future anyway. Otherwise I'm very happy with it.

Crappy photos with an HD camera (how the hell did I manage that?!) follow:

Yowza, Deog! Can I come and play at your house?! :)

More then welcome to come on down, if I remember correctly, your not that far from me.
I have more long guns not pictured. Mostly I am a Marlin lever gun guy and can't stop buying them. Major fascination with the Marlin lever gun.
