Mossberg 835 Ulti-Mag Pump Action Photo Gallery

The long beard choke pattern was about the same but left a few inches. I Like the looks of the factory choke on the 835 its fatter to match the barrel size so that’s what I’m going to go with. Long Beard choke was a waste of $65.

Well that's definitely a turkey on the table. And, a very respectable pattern at 40 yds. I'm curious how much tighter the pattern would be at half the distance?

Yeah, that's a real nice pattern. Now, you just gotta find some birds to boom!

I picked up a like new 835 Turkey for $300 out the door at the LGS yesterday. Serial # is UM934XXX. I believe its around a 2013 date of manufacture. Can any one verify this? This shotgun looks new other than a slight amount of tube finish wear. For $300 I was not gonna leave it there. I have an older 835 I picked up in 2002 or 2003 and this one is very light by comparison. I installed a little red dot on it and am excited about getting it out and sighting it in.

Now in it's final form and ready for sight in and patterning. Monstrum red dot mount for the Sightmark Mini-Shot M-Spec (Doctor footprint), Monstrum oversized safety (smaller version of the S&H Hardware safety) and a Outdoor Connections Padded Super Sling.

I have been wanting another 835 for a long time to put a red dot on for turkey hunting. I have a 935 with a red dot too, but it is a water fowl gun that I made into a turkey gun. This will go nice with my other 2000-ish manufactured 835.

Please report back with results/pics of the hunt. :)

Welp, I didn't get a turkey with the new-to-me 835 this fall, but I did get this young male coyote with it. I rolled him off a log at around 18 yards. Other than some quivering, he never moved after the shot. Load used was a 3.5" Winchester Supreme #5 turkey load. He's the first coyote I have shot and recovered. I would have liked to make a rug out of him, as his fur was pristine, but that is pretty expensive. Hopefully this spring I will recover the skull as a souvenir. This is also the first animal I have taken with a red dot and I am a believer. It is so much faster to get on target compared to open sights or a scope.

Thanks, Just doing my part for predator control. He came into my turkey calling, so he was looking for what he thought was an easy meal. Little did he know........

I will say as well, this red dot 835 is much lighter to pack in the woods vs. my circa. 2002 835 with the old style forend and Weaver Kaspa 1-4 turkey scope. I will probably hunt with it this spring as well. I think for the vast majority of situations I'm likely to run into in the turkey woods, the red dot will be more than adequate for the job. I need to put the 2 on a scale to see, but I'm gonna bet there is a 2 lb. difference between the 2 shotguns.

I think you’re the only other person I have seen here that owns a 353.

Mine is a 353T with the tiny 4x Tasco scope, originally sold to my mom at Kmart.

When she found out she had to clean (!) this thing after shooting it, she put it away in the closet and never shot it again.

My mom was not big on cleaning things. I guess it was just extra stress that she did not want.

My dad shot a few gophers with it, but otherwise it never had more than a box and a half of ammo through it between 1976 (?) and 2002, when she gave it to me.

I’ve only put a couple hundred rounds through it myself, before I decided I wanted to start shooting again. I hadn’t been hunting since I was a kid in 1964.

I bought every gun that I could afford for two years, after Hillary ran for president.

She said she was going to make them illegal so I figured it was a good investment. Well that didn’t happen, but the state here quickly did make them a good investment.

My Father-in-Law gave it to me when he moved to Florida. I put a 4 scope on it and it shoots pretty good. I passed it on to my son when he moved into his new house.

I changed out the red dot and mount on my newer 835 I got the Coyote with in the above post. I went with the Monstrum Grimlock mount, which looks like it would spread the recoil out over a larger area of the receiver, supporting the red dot better. Then I switched to a Primary Arms MD-25 red dot. The mount uses a large torx head screw and 2 recoil lugs for the picatinny rail. It also should be much more waterproof and robust than the Sightmark. I also added a Beartooth Products Comb Raising Kit to get my eye behind the red dot and have a cheek weld. I didn't get a turkey with it this spring, but hopefully in the fall.Mossberg 835 Turkey (MOBU) 12 gauge current RS .jpg

I finally found a 20" 835 Turkey. I have been looking for one of these for quite awhile and found it in a local Pawn Shop. It has a few scratches on the finish, but the inside looks brand new. It has a UM97xxxx serial# which I think puts it around 2015. I added a Sightmark Mini-Shot Pro M-Spec on a Monstrum mount, a Kick's .670 choke and an Outdoor Connections Super Sling to top it off.

Nice lightweight, short shotty for turkey season.
*EDIT* I sighted it in at 35 yards today with the old trusty Winchester Supreme 3.5" #5's and it throws a nice even pattern with the Kick's .670 choke. It should make a fine turkey gun.

Does anyone know if this is the Grand Slam model? or would it say Grand Slam on it?
Never mind. Google AI says it is more of the features like the 20" barrel and porting. No actual markings. It also says that they were predominantly during the early 2000's, so this one is not a Grand Slam model.
