Please report back with results/pics of the hunt. Now in it's final form and ready for sight in and patterning. Monstrum red dot mount for the Sightmark Mini-Shot M-Spec (Doctor footprint), Monstrum oversized safety (smaller version of the S&H Hardware safety) and a Outdoor Connections Padded Super Sling.
I do. And I eat chicken, turkey, cows, deer, squirrels, rabbits & fish. I am an equal opportunity carnivore.
I think you’re the only other person I have seen here that owns a 353.I will say as well, this red dot 835 is much lighter to pack in the woods vs. my circa. 2002 835 with the old style forend and Weaver Kaspa 1-4 turkey scope. I will probably hunt with it this spring as well. I think for the vast majority of situations I'm likely to run into in the turkey woods, the red dot will be more than adequate for the job. I need to put the 2 on a scale to see, but I'm gonna bet there is a 2 lb. difference between the 2 shotguns.
My Father-in-Law gave it to me when he moved to Florida. I put a 4 scope on it and it shoots pretty good. I passed it on to my son when he moved into his new house.I think you’re the only other person I have seen here that owns a 353.
Mine is a 353T with the tiny 4x Tasco scope, originally sold to my mom at Kmart.
When she found out she had to clean (!) this thing after shooting it, she put it away in the closet and never shot it again.
My mom was not big on cleaning things. I guess it was just extra stress that she did not want.
My dad shot a few gophers with it, but otherwise it never had more than a box and a half of ammo through it between 1976 (?) and 2002, when she gave it to me.
I’ve only put a couple hundred rounds through it myself, before I decided I wanted to start shooting again. I hadn’t been hunting since I was a kid in 1964.
I bought every gun that I could afford for two years, after Hillary ran for president.
She said she was going to make them illegal so I figured it was a good investment. Well that didn’t happen, but the state here quickly did make them a good investment.
