“Why are Democrats smarter than Republicans?”

So, “Why are Democrats smarter than Republicans?” The answer is they aren’t. It isn’t a matter of intelligence it’s a matter of people with dedication to something larger than themselves as opposed to people with dedication to seeing themselves as something larger than they are.
The leadership of the Democrats are committed radical Progressives. They have a long term agenda to transform America into a socialist welfare state with an unlimited government, and they never lose sight of that goal. They’re willing to commit political suicide, or more accurately they’re willing to encourage their followers who do not inhabit safe seats to commit political suicide. They never take their eyes off the ball. They’re constantly pushing to move closer to the goal line even if it’s one inch at a time.
By comparison the leadership of the Republicans is composed of professional politicians. They’re pragmatists who do whatever they have to do and say whatever they have to say to retain their seats, their power, and their perks. They believe the inside the beltway press who tell them how visionary they are to compromise, losing sight of those back home in fly-over country who instead believed the campaign promises and expect their representatives to stand up for principles.
The outraged public may rise up and throw out the democratic majority of Harry Reid. They may increase the majority for John Boehner. What will be the result? Will America reject the creeping socialism that is sapping our energy and subjecting us to the rule of bureaucrats and their regulations? Will America get back on track?, Not until the apathy diminishes and the sheep see the wolves at the door ~~MM~~

The tipping point for any republic is when the voters realize they can send someone to represent them that will return the favor via the treasury. The treasury and wealth is depleted faster than it is replaced. If we aren't at that point yet we must be close. What was the number Romney used in the last election. I believe it was 48% are beholden to the government for most of their income. Some that worked their whole life earned it but they are but a smaller percentage of those getting checks. 92,000,000 Americans that could work were not employed and did not even look for work in the last month. How about this from 8 months ago:

In June, according to BLS, the labor force participation rate for Americans was 62.8 percent, matching a 36-year low. The participation rate is the percentage of the population that either has a job or actively sought one in the last four weeks.

Wouldn't that make the unemployment rate 37%? When treasuries are plundered what are the options?...borrow and print money. We are doing those things now at an incredible rate.

I think the only hope is at the state level. Some states still operate within their means and are getting sick and tired of Washington, DC. When they are being forced, to their own detriment, to keep DC and mismanaged states afloat that is when we may see the SHTF and things change. Please note that it's the areas of the country (bigger cities) where the efforts are being led to disarm America.

I'm not sure Dems are smarter than Republicans but they definitely play a different and effective strategy. Your description pretty much nails it and has been why I am so frustrated with the Republican party. They talk big but when it comes down to the fight none of them are willing to take a hit to thew face.

Repubs best find something better than what I've seen on the screen to run, Or Warren will be the next Pres. and if any of you think what we have now in looks bad look out. here's one they should have been priming for the last two yrs. If they are going up against a woman and immigration policy this is their weapon .but don't hold your breath. Susana Martinez the Gov'r of NM pluses , she's a Woman, she's Hispanic, she's a Gun owner, she's conservative, she has over 60&% favor of the independents in her state . She could pull the female votes the Hispanic voters, the indep'ts and all the conservative Gun owners. The big farce is that the parties still have the general public thinking they're in opposition when in reality they've been playing for the same team for years now. There's a strategic reason for the Republican party's choices in presidential candidates. Lambs to slaughter. Each time they're shot down the new progressive RINOs gain power and assume more control over the party's direction. The Dems are sitting back watching with confidence as their moles take over, twisting their sinister mustaches as their plan for a singular government unfolds...

LES is right, they are one and the same. They use issues like gay marriage, abortion, guns etc. to keep our attention from the real problem which is them. They also have a huge elitist power grabbing bureaucracy in DC that doesn't change no matter which party won the election. They all think they can do whatever they want and they pretty much can. DC is lost to us.
