Good morning

Good Friday morning all....made to the end of my first full week back from vacation. It's going to be hot in the Saint Louis area this weekend. We have protestors literally camping out in front of City Hall protestor our mayor. We expect more protests at the statue of King Louis at our art museum and .... I'm looking forward to getting my Trijicon SRO optic mounted on one of my Glock 34s and zeroing the red dot. I decided to give a handgun optic another try with the SRO.

Have a good one. Stay hydrated. Stay away from COVID.

It's time for these mayors to put their adult pants on and show some leadership. This whole protest has been hijacked and turned into a culture cancel shit show. If the government (local) won't step in then the 99.99% of the citizens that are not occupying, rioting, and looting need to step up by any means necessary.

I wonder if the FBI has arrested that AH that claimed that if BLM didn't get "what we want" they would "burn down the system"?
He's gotta be under watch . . . Maybe he should be in "protective custody" from the millions of people who want him at hand.

ALSO, How can you deal with jerks like Cuomo?
He paints graffiti on the street in front of the President's house.

I'd like to put a ring of federal agents around Cuomo's mansion, park a Cobra on his private helipad, and tell him to go sleep on that street.
He's like some mafia boss that dumps trash on your lawn, then continues to go after your family, and shake you down with intimidation and threats.
Finally, it's you or him and you blow him off the side of a bridge with a bazooka.
Or a Warthog. I'm not that picky.

Morning all, sobering subject this morning. Seems over the last few weeks there have been an increasing number of military veteran suicides. Maybe the recent pandemic has increased the stress on our military brothers and sisters. Suicide rates for Vietnam vets have always been high but lately there have been an increasing number of young vets taking their lives.

Just a suggestion for your consideration - if you have love ones or friends who are veterans check on them and see how their doing. There are many help lines or agencies but a personal touch is typically better and I've found friends who are more receptive to simply having someone to talk with. Depression is tough. And those who have experienced the horrors of war are sometimes very reluctant to talk about it, even with immediate family.

Bless all our military veterans!

Regards

Good morning everyone.

Ernst, you bring up a subject that has never gotten the attention it deserves. Often times we have friends or even family that we think needs help, yet we are unable to help them ourselves, and at the same time we don't want to be "the one" that that makes the call.

I had a couple of high school friends that came home from Vietnam so different. At the time I was in my early 20s myself and had no idea what was going on. Things are different now than they were 50 years ago. There is a greater awareness, better programs, and yet the problem only seems to get worse. Perhaps it is the awareness, I don't know.

Your suggestion of checking in on vets is excellent. A cup of coffee, a chat, someone that cares enough to make time can make a huge difference to someone that is living on the edge.

Good morning Mossberg Owners.

The lady that lives behind me is the director of the local veterans Memorial District & normally they have all kinds of activities, But this year People cannot even work, everyone is on lockdown, and particularly old folks are reluctant to participate anyway.

I am afraid that this lack of social contact is indeed what’s driving the uptick in suicides among the whole population, but it’s particularly noticeable among the most vulnerable.

If you’ve got friends in that category I would definitely give them a ring.

Quick follow up on recent suicides by young vets. Saw this article this morning. Really sad especially for the children.

https://www.foxnews.com/us/armys-captain-america-dies-by-suicide-after-nearly-dozen-combat-tours

Meanstreak, to your point regarding Vietnam veterans. They (we) were likely the most forgotten of all the wartime returnees. Guess it was the sign of the times back in the 60s and 70s. However, that doesn't take away anything from our young vets and their current struggles. You are correct in that there is much greater awareness today plus recent returnees have generally been treated as hero's which is much different than how the Vietnam returnees were treated. Many Vietnam vets disappeared into the woodwork and very few even acknowledge their service.

Regards

Back in the day you did one tour and then done, usually anyways. Now with so much reliance on the National Guard we send men and women back 3,4, sometimes 5 times. Each time is a total disruption of their lives, and their families.

The highs and lows of coming home, only to be sent back again, and again, and, well you get the picture. Being sent to places that are essentially civil wars, half the folks there wish we weren't there. Seeing the atrocities of war over and over. It's no wonder so many go off the deep end.

Good Morning guys.

I was in the john about 2:30 am when I got this faint whiff of gasoline. I had drained the SS fuel months ago, and I thought maybe the dog knocked over a gas can in the boatyard, just outside. It turns out another plastic fuel tank from a boat had split open and was leaking.

I was out there at 3am, transferring gas into my truck and car, with a small gas can, but both were nearly full and couldn't take the whole 6 gals.

I ended up with full tanks & 2.5 gals in my one good gas can, and about a gallon leaked on the concrete. Half of that gallon had already leaked out between dinner at 3pm, and at 3am when I finally got back out there. The other half I spilled as I tried to pour it out thru a funnel.

Anyhow I didn't get much sleep, and I have been out working on my shed and my patio aquarium for hours. I needed the fresh air after breathing all those gas fumes.

I'm think I'm going to eat some brunch and go back to bed.

Good morning Mossberg Owners.

My buddy Dave has been down with the flu.
He says it not covid, but he had pneumonia coming on a month ago.

I gotta call and see how he's doing.
Also I have plenty of woodwork to do today. Towel bars and shed shelves.

Look at the market roar, now that it's obvious the administration supports it.

Meanwhile, China has floods, slides, storms, earthquakes, locusts, and is busy killing off moslems and hindus.
They're in for a huge crop failure this year and will be importing rice etc, while most of their flagship properties are only half rented.
Consortiums of govt owned companies were directed to do glorious things, and the common farmers and ranchers were forgotten.

Kinda reminds me of the USA if it were to get greened into submission. Only instead of building skyscrapers, we'd be covering the desert with solar farms and the coast with windmills. Meanwhile, Russia's north seacoast is opening as the ice melts. They're boosting seatrade, and what's been big for China could be big for them in the future, as well. They want a slice of Chinese fortune for lunch as well.

All these things bode well for the administration, and IMHO if the current DOJ investigations bear fruit, things could rocket.
Biden's last speech sounded a lot like the Pro-USA talk Trump got blasted for last week. Less coherent, but it's already been labeled as racist by the never-biden-ers starting to grow.

Good morning all. We had almost two inches of rain Saturday and another half inch this morning. Good thing because we are in for about 5 or 6 100+ days with no rain at all.

I had a covid test this morning as I have a little procedure Wednesday at the hospital unless they call me and tell me I am positive before then. The test was really not much of a deal. A bit weird for about 10 seconds was all.

I hope you all have a great day and stay safe.

Good morning all, well afternoon. We are cooking now. Sunshine and hot for the next 5-6 days. I love this time of year though after living most of my life far enough north to have to deal with real winters. We might see 100 today, the heat index certainly will. Speaking of heat index, the next three days are forecast to be 111,110, and 113.

Anyways, you all drink lots of water and be safe.

Good evening Mossberg Owners. No rain here.
We have been seeing 105+ in the afternoons for about a week.
But the nights have been cool, and not so much smog blowing down from the north.
We are downwind from the Frisco bay, about 170 miles SW. It's typically worse.

In brighter news, it looks like the notorious RGB is in the hospital again. Covid? Meh...

Thought for the day.

Historian Caroll Quigley, 1910 - 1977 said the decay of a civilization occurs “when the civilization, no longer able to defend itself because it is no longer willing to defend itself, lies wide open to barbarian invaders.” (paraphrased)

I wonder if we're rapidly headed in this direction today. Will the majority of our American citizens step up to defend America or the American way of life today? Good question given the ongoing cancel culture rhetoric and left leaning toward socialism. Plus were dealing with a "me, me" entitled generation.

Many talk of civil war. While this may not escalate into an outright shooting war there certainly are underpinnings of a revolution ongoing today. Plus the economy is stagnant and the latest report that a third of households across the country have not paid their July mortgage or rent payments. Yet, it's amazing that many businesses still open are advertising for help wanted. And the pandemic could probably be summed up, to a great extent, as the pre-election panic.

What if (when) a real crisis arises like a conflict in the south China Sea occurs and it spills over into countries who are our allies?

What will American do?

What do you think?

Leftist DAs like the ones in Chicago and St. Louis are providing cover for the rioters and looters, as are the progressive mayors and governors, and now US senators in Oregon. At some point though I think that law abiding citizens will say enough and start to take back control of the cities very soon.

The couple in St. Louis being investigated and maybe indicted for standing in their yard with guns is just an example of the elected left's intimidation. As far as I am concerned those condoning the violence are complicit and should be arrested. I only wish the big city police chiefs and commissioners had the balls and or will power to do what is right. Out of cities and counties of millions a gang/mob of a thousand or so are allowed to dictate policy and even take over parts of cities. Really...

Good morning guys.

I think America will follow human nature in that when things start to get real hot that’s when we grab the hose.

Boom and Bust. It’s how we do things.

We have already seen this in the historic movements in gun sales, plus the recent record jump in gun sales among people who were formerly reluctant to get involved with a firearm. (We unreluctant, of course, already have stocked up.)

Where it seems now like public support for the 1st & second amendments is at low tide, this is just the image of the media projection. The truth is in the record gun sales. The truth is in things like the reappointment of Gorka to the White House. There’s a man Whose parents had lived under fascism and communism. He has no problem with the truth.

All this will become more evident when Trump sweeps the election. At least to those who have not totally blinded their eyes and plugged their ears in denial.

Even the most powerful trillion dollar media machine in the universe will not always fool everyone, though some will continue to fool them selves & reject what they know is true in attempts to justify or sanitize what they have done in the past.

Good morning everyone. It looks as if we are going to have a bit of rain this morning followed by very hot and unbearable humid.

Well, the doctor did not receive my covid test results in time yesterday so no procedure. Now it's back to the beginning. Another schedule, another covid test, then the procedure. Oh well,in due time.

We are heading to the lake today. It should be about 5 degrees cooler there each day.

Have a great day and stay safe.

I've been avoiding everyone as much as possible. I've still largely been acting like I've been in lockdown as much as possible

The numbers of covid cases are growing in the lower double digits everyday in the town I live in. Since there probably aren't 30k people in my whole county in the first place, when you have double digit amounts of people testing positive daily, that's pretty considerable numbers.

Granted the numbers were zero cases back in the middle of may, but not now.

I think a lot of it is dummies going on vacation in the hotspots where covid is rampant and bringing it back here to everyone else.

Dumbasses.

I have some good friends whom I've known for years that have two young children test positive for it this week. One is 7 and I think the other one is 9 or 10 years old.

So, they are having it especially rough right now and are worried/scared. Which I understand. And I don't even think they've been much of anywhere.

But like I have been saying for months, a virus doesn't know or care how old you are. It just recognizes you as a host. So, for anyone who thinks "I'm young and healthy", all I can say is so what!?! I'm sure a bunch of other people thought they were bullet proof too that are now pushing up daisies.

I hate to sound abrasive about it, but a virus doesn't ask how old you are before infecting you. Sometimes I wonder how people can be so dumb and how the news media can push that BS without being taken off the air.

A lot of people here are upset about the governors mask mandate. I was wearing a mask when in public for a while now, but not because someone told me I had to.

I don't personally have much of a problem with it under these circumstances, but I would like to take it a step further and say a mask isn't going to outright save you alone. You're going to have to wash your hands, take steps to remove your shoes and clothes at the door when you come home. Wipe down your groceries before you put them in the cabinet and take other protective steps too. So, mandating that everyone wears a mask may be helpful in some limited situations, if people don't understand basic hygiene, a mask isn't going to save them.

And even with all of those steps that I have been doing, I know that I can still catch it. How many people here in their lives have never had a stomach virus and Diarrhea? Well, that's how easy it is to catch a virus and not even know about it. The same for this, and I still believe it's a bi0-weapon that escaped from their lab.

If you want to get technical about it, do the research to find out how many virus' can actually thrive during cold and hot temperatures (as in winter and summer). There are a few. But not most of them.
