Need to watch teachers

I was travelling for work when the kids started school. While skyping my daughter (8th grade) told me she didn't like her teacher for government. She said half of the chalk boards were covered on Barack and Michelle pictures. We watch what they are taught closely but this one threw the flags up to watch very closely. When I got home I checked her notes for the first week and noticed that under the bill of rights they were all listed except the second amendment.

I was going to email her but they have an open house in two days and it would be better to talk to her in person. Maybe nothing is amiss but I will find out either way.

I seriously doubt that the absence of the 2nd was an oversight on the part of the teacher.

I don't think so either. That's why I'm anxious to meet with her.

When you do, take a tape recorder, put it out on the desk and tell her that the conversation is on the record.

I'm very curious how this will play out. At a minimum you'll certainly piss off the teacher :) Wear a pro 2A or firearms shirt (hell, even a camo hat would do these days) From the sounds of it, your daughters probably know more about American history than she does!

I did think about wearing my blaze orange MO hat. :D

I'll let you guys know how it plays out. I will certainly give her a chance but won't hesitate to move right up the ladder if I see her doing liberal indoctrination. Our school district is pretty rural and pretty conservative. I don't think I'll have any problem getting things fixed if she's up to no good. She did say on the first day they will be learning all about Obama. I'm curious to ask her if her room was filled with Bush pictures when he was president?

For the record I don't want her teaching Tea Party politics either. Just teach the fundamentals of how our system of government was set up and teach the Constitution.

I don't either. I bet she'll use the excuse that talking about firearms will cause the children distress, anguish, fear, and anxiety. I'm sure she believes displaying the American flag will do the same.

Keep us updated. I'd like to know how it turns out.

Obviously a liberal trying to teach their agenda to our children...

I would like to hear how you made out too Mike !!

Never caused me any of that. Schools ought to show videos of "Tales of the Gun" that ran on the History Channel for a few years. Most episodes are on Youtube now.

"to understand the gun is to understand history."

Thanks guys. I hope I'm wrong but don't think so. I'm on guard after what my cousin told me happened to his daughter in a neighboring district last year. Her teacher came right out and said he didn't believe the 2A was a personal right. The class took a vote on it and all but 3 sided with him. They then had debates which were more about brow beating those three. In the end his daughter stood alone on this issue. Then her dad got wind of it and it got a little ugly, as it should have.

Last year my boss had to call his kids school when one came home and informed him that they were taught that the Pilgrims slaughtered the Indians after the first Thanksgiving. That teacher was made to tell the class that it wasn't true and that he made it up. You have keep on top of things or you don't know what your kids will be filled with.

Doesn't matter what that teacher believes, or how that class voted. What matters is what the founders determined was necessary and right, and what the Supreme Court decided.

That's right Gunny. Same goes for local bureaucrats, activist judges, progressive members of Congress or socialist leaning Presidents.

If it comes to it in your discussion you might want to remind her that the Constitution is not a cafeteria menu that you can pick and choose from. It is the highest law of this Republic, and should be treated and taught with the respect it deserves, and has earned for over 200 years. Not picked apart by someone who is pushing a personal agenda.

Maybe your daughter didn't write the 2nd in her notes because she already knew it by heart and didnt' need to write it down. :)

Also, tape recording conversations is completely legal in my state, as long as at least 1 party is aware that it is happening.

Of course, other states are probably different, but that's how it is here.

Have you asked your daughter why it wasn't in her notes? She may've been to the bathroom or anything.

I'm trying to give the teacher the benefit of the doubt, but I'm sure you'll get your answer soon enough.

I already checked that out and she said the teacher didn't mention it. She does know the 2A though! :D She even went to a rally with me last spring.

I'll give her teacher the benefit of the doubt. I hope I'm wrong. The chalk boards pasted with pictures of Barack and Michelle tell me otherwise. I wouldn't care if they had his picture up. I remember Nixon, Ford and Carter in my elementary school. That was a long year looking at that wimp Carter...ugggh.

Don't worry, I will ask for explanations and not go off like some gun toting idiot.

I'm with you on the pics. He is the president, and has just as much right for his pics in civics class as any other president and even though I think his policies suck, I feel his pic should be up. If for nothing else than a warning for what happens when they get old enough to vote LOL

But if the teacher is just indoctrinating, that is a whole other topic altogether.

I don't even care if the school has a zero tolerance policy on guns, if they're going to teach civics, they need to teach civics, not just pick and choose what they want.

Omitting a single amendment out of all of them, is unacceptable. And I would be prepared to escalate it if necessary.

Blame Bill Gates as well as the government:

Bill Gates was one of the leaders of Common Core, putting his personal money into its development, implementation and promotion, so it’s unsurprising that much of this data mining will occur via Microsoft’s Cloud system.

Even the Department of Education, though, admits that privacy is a concern, and that that some of the data gathered may be “of a sensitive nature.” The information collected will be more than sensitive; much of it will also be completely unrelated to education. Data collected will not only include grades, test scores, name, date of birth and social security number, it will also include parents’ political affiliations, individual or familial mental or psychological problems, beliefs, religious practices and income..................

...............The Common Core program has been heavily scrutinized recently for the fact that its curriculum teaches young children to use emotionally charged language to manipulate others and teaches students how to become community organizers and experts of the U.N.’s agenda 21.

Common Core is horrible. They are trying to bring that in and we are fighting that too. Common Core is the generational approach to making ignorant minions of the populace.

I'm anxious to see how this one pans out. I remember having quite a few liberal teachers back in the day, I almost believed some of their crap but luckily my parents set me straight.
