State Capital Protest information

Oli, after looking at the picture with the top of your head I wanted to say that your militia in Oregon look as tough as any I have seen in the pictures.
Oregonians are fierce people....... decedents of the folks who went to the end of the trail. German, Irish loggers who carve a life out of the last frontier, scrappers, non conformists through and through. People who wanted to get so far away from the masses on the east coast they went till they hit another ocean. People who don’t want to be on the grid

What is the political climate in Oregon?

Pissed Off

I hate to say you guys get lumped in with California

That’s straight up fighting words here, I'm not kidding one bit, I have seen many scrap get started soon after that sentence was uttered.....in my day I may have been party to a couple

carbinemike said:
and Washington. I'll hazard a guess that it's similar to PA in that liberal cities dominate and but can't 100% control like Cal. and NY.
Your guess is accurate

How are the gun laws
Some of the best, 18 to own buy / own handgun, no waiting, no mag limits, no weapon limits, open carry, conceal carry, one in the pipe, on your hip, in your rig.....and no one looks twice.

carbinemike said:
have you had the idiotic state law proposals?
oh yeah

carbinemike said:
I'd say with that sheriff of yours some things must be right

Oregon’s law enforcement is the most vocal in the country about this. There are many more here than Sheriff Tim now with letters, on paper, in the hands of the White House. We love or LEO's in Oregon, we have their back and they have ours.

Firearm tradition if is rich here, it’s a way of life. There are more arms/knife related products that come from Oregon than maybe any other state, there world class training facilities...Thunder Ranch

A lot of folks here know all about succession from the United States before it became popular as of late…..if you want to know what real Oregon is look into the State of Jefferson.

And the being the Beaver State....common, you got to have a since of humor lol

Sounds like a great place oli. As for the beaver...I kinda understand your stance..my tech high school mascot was a beaver. I liked em.

It is great, We had a showing at the capitol that beat most and rivals some states with populations that dwarf ours, that should speak for its self .

Thanks for the warning and I will remember it if I ever get out that way. I like to share a brew with locals, not piss em' off. Kind of like calling it the war of northern agression down south instead of the civil war.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I knew it wasn't as simple as it seems on this end and you definitely filled in the blanks for me. I didn't know that off the grid folks were so many. From this end all we hear about is mostly folks like that in Idaho and to a lesser extent Montana for off the grid. Awsome on the gun laws! Keep it that way! Ours are pretty good but I worry about them. When I was a kid it seemed like every other pickup has a gun rack in it it.

German and Irish huh? Sounds like my family and the coal region folks north and west of here. Mine is German and my wife is German and Irish. Her and my kids can be stubborn as hell but their hearts are always in the right place.

That, to me...shows me where their pride and their priorities lie.
Good for you man....

We'll go get a drink !, I'll take you to my home town bar the Log Inn.....bullet holes are authentic and the bar was one of three to come around the horn in the early 1800's before Oregon was a state.

and Native American, my son is half Modoc Indian.... Irish/German Indian.....they were still living on the land here in the late 1870's.... before then the Federal Government ran them off the land and stabbed them in the back, lies are a deep rooted tradition in our leadership

Those hats are popping up everywhere. :D :D :D

As a side, I didn't even realize it until we were in Lansing (the location of MSU) but I wore my UofM fleece under my coat. I think I pissed more people off at the local Jimmie Johns when I took my coat off to eat than the entire rally did.

Ha ha ha...damn them college rivalries....

I saw that buzzfeed, pretty good pics!

So, one of the guys at work who was gonna go then couldn't, (I guess couldn't get permission from his wife or somethin) did at least tell some friends. Five of them went Saturday! So, I guess I won't hold it against him, he did at least spread the word and got five gsuys to go in his place. Nah, he shoulda gone too.

I'm still tryin for the 8th. Its not 100% out of the question, maybe more like 99%...

Man, I wish that the PA rally would have turned out like some of the other states! Would have been awesome to see 2000 people crawling all over the Capitol!

We have another one this wednesday and they worked against each other for attendence. The folks this wednesday want to be there when the house is in session. Typical Pa...can't even do a protest rally right. You'd think PennDOT organized it!

Sounds like great vibes! I have never been to Oregon but my work puts equipment into bakeries around the country so you never know!

IMMEDIATE ACTION NEEDED ALL CT GUN OWNERS

Connecticut Legislators Seeking to Destroy Second Amendment;
Bills Will Make CT Citizens Instant Criminals
Let Your Voice Be Heard or Face Banning of Your Rifles and Magazines
Legislators in Hartford are in the process of destroying your Second Amendment rights by exploiting recent tragedies. Gov. Malloy, Sen. Beth Bye, and Rep. Bob Godfrey want outright bans and onerous restrictions on your rights through an enormous number of Anti-Gun Bills. Here are a few of the items included in one of their proposals:
An outright ban on ALL modern sporting rifles classifying them as "Assault Weapons."
Restricting your ability to defend yourself and family by arbitrarily restricting the magazine size to 10 rounds.
Confiscating ALL magazines holding more than 10 rounds, pistols included.
Statewide gun registration for ALL firearms; knowing full well criminals won't ever register their guns.
Re-registration every 2 years with ever increasing fees.
Requires permit for any rifle with a pistol grip.
Limiting how much ammunition you can purchase AND possess.
Registration of all ammunition purchases.
Bans internet sales of ammo in Connecticut.
Mandatory gun storage laws, like the one the U.S. Supreme Court struck down in the Heller decision.
There will only be a few opportunities for discussion and opposition as many in Hartford are trying to pass legislation as quickly as possible. The first hearing (and may be the only time to testify) will occur next Monday, Jan. 28, at 10 a.m. at the Legislative Office Building.
Gun Violence Prevention Working Group Public Hearing
Monday, Jan. 28, 2013
Legislative Office Building
10 a.m., Room 2C

NSSF is urging all gun owners, sportsmen and hunters to attend Monday's public hearing to be held in the Legislative Office Building in Room 2C at 10 a.m. and to contact their state representative, senator and all members of the Committee immediately, urging them to oppose knee-jerk reaction legislation.
Find your elected officials here.
If this bill passes, law-abiding gun owners will have to begin surrendering their magazines and possibly modern sporting rifles, or face confiscation by the state police and a felony charge. Again, this proposal would make simple possession of a legally owned firearm or magazine a felony.
This draconian measure will also affect non-gun owners as all Connecticut tax payers will be forced to foot the bill for the extraordinary process of having police confiscate -- from law-abiding citizens -- AND registration databases.
Making matters worse, Connecticut manufacturers including Colt, Mossberg, Stag Arms, Mec-Gar, OKAY Industries, Ruger and Metalform will be directly affected by this legislation. That means a loss of jobs and tax revenue to the state.
Here are a few of the other pieces of legislation under consideration:
HB 5268, SB140
To require firearm owners to maintain liability insurance and establish a sales tax on the sale of ammunition at a rate of 50 percent and require all ammunition to be purchased in person.
SB 122
A class C felony offense for any person or organization to purchase, sell, donate, transport, possess or use any gun except one made to fire a single round.
SB 124
Prohibit the possession of magazines that accept more than ten rounds.
Don't let legislators trample your rights. Let your voice be heard now.

I have been busy since Saturday and just looked into the 8th. I had such an enjoyable experience that I will do my all to be there. It also lets me continue to hound my friends that bailed last weekend...CB was not happy with them...do not bitch about things and sit on your butts.
