It is made of billet aluminum and has a piece of rubber tubing running the length of the holder to add friction and some tension to hold the shells in. It held them great and releases them smooth. It came with two choices of tubing, soft and firm. I preferred the firm as it holds my reloaded slugs better . Mounting was easy and the fit is excellent…..little on the pricy side but this part it above average for sure, they make them in 6 and 8 shot as well.
Itsricmo said:What gap? The only "gap" I have seen with any of the 4 shell saddle or my 6 shell, is right where the receiver begins to curve in towards the top. Unless I am speaking of the wrong spot. ~~~ upon review of the above photos I see what gap you are speaking of, that is a non issue in my opinion, as the below stated foam can easily take care of that and its only about a 1/8" "gap"

but its nice

A lighter gun is earier to point quickly and sidesaddle ammo adds lots of weight.
That is why I won't be adding ammo storage to my gun.
I prefer having an open box of shells next to the bed.
If I am going out, extras in my right jacket pocket work for me.
Besides, if I am going to have more stuff, I would rather have a small back up gun nearby or in my pocket in case of a jam. (.45 American Derringer)
