How right you are. Although it may seem like it, I'm not a Colt fanboy.
When I went to buy my first ever AR-15, I discovered the AR6520 was only about $50 more than the M&P-15 I had decided on. Since it was about as close as I was liable to get to the M-16s I fired in the military, I bought it instead. I specifically was drawn to the Colt because those M-16s all had the prancing pony.
This time I was looking for a good AR-10 when I stumbled on the LE901. It had nearly all the features I wanted and could take any mil-spec AR-15 upper as well. I would have bought it if it were made by any reputable company.
As for riding on reputation... I bought a Troy-Bilt string trimmer last summer. I think it lasted through 3 uses. I now have a Stihl.
