KaBar / Becker

Re: The Mossberg 500 of the knife world.

I would have to say something like a Leathermen MUT-EOD or similar model. I had one stolen from my bag at work a few months back... I LOVED that freaking thing... But if it has to be a knife, Fixed or Folding Blade...

The Becker Tac-Tool (Pry Tool/Diver Tool) wins my vote all day long!

Jonny, are you making the scales yourself or buying? Great looking collection of BK's... that BK16 is beautiful... I think I would even like that bettern than a KaBar!

The scales on the bk5 are micarta. Ka-bar factory micarta. I preffer it over the stock grivory scales. They just feel warmer. There are some who make their own micarta, but I just bought these.

Here's my new BK10 that has recently been re-released:

And my BK24. This is the model 14, but made with D2 instead of 1095 crovan.

I've still been lusting over a leather handled USMC version (although I'd love it to be parked rather than the current coating they use). Call me traditional, but I like it!

Thanks gentlemen !!

Buddy of mine showed me this knife the other day...had to get one for myself !!

The combat knife first adopted by the United States Marine Corps in November 23rd, 1942 as the 1219C2 combat knife (later designated the USMC Mark 2 combat knife or Knife, Fighting Utility).

This guy has several for sale: http://www.baystatemilitaria.com/WWII/WWIIEquipment.htm

Ya' know if you look around you can find the originals for not much more than the new reproductions. $120 or so, including sheath sometimes. I have one of the 1996 knives made by Case that I bought at a gun show a few months ago for $60.
