1911: Pics and Discussion

5" Sig Scorpion

Today I got a "railed" 1911 to carry on duty

COLT Rail Gun 01980RG
Blackened Stainless Steel (Cerakote)
Model 0
National Match Barrel

I definitely like to have on my duty rig the 9mm G34 with fixed Trijicons plus three spare 17-rd mags of Federal 147-HSTs and the TLR-1 light. That's a LOT of comforting ammunition when my nearest backup is a LONG way away.

I carried for several years a great 1911A1 Series 70 with three extra 7-rd mags of Winchester RA45T and loved it, but it couldn't accommodate a weapon light so I reverted back to the G34.

Now with a Colt Rail Gun I might again run a 1911 with a TLR-1.

Just brought it home an hour ago. Seems really nice.

Yeah, it sometimes seems like pretty cool stuff, I agree!!! But you have LOTS of cool stuff as well, WM!!!!!!!!!!!!

This Colt Rail Gun purchase came out of my pocket. Over $1200.

The other 1911 duty pistol I rocked is also my own personally owned gun that is about $1400 after enhancements, and the G34 9mm was purchased by my self with my own money as well.

So is my M4gery with an Aimpoint Comp M4s, and my M1A with Aimpoint Micro T-1, my 590 8+1 and lots of lights and lots of gadgets and .....

If I rolled with just what I was given/issued it would be a G22, and a Mossberg 500 bead sight 4+1 pump.

I probably leave the house every day with $15,000 in stuff that I didn't get issued but I wanted it and Chief said "hell yeah" so I bought it myself.

Congratulations.

Sorry that it's coming out of your pocket though. That's a hard pill to swallow.

I hope you keep your receipts and put it all on your taxes as work related deductions.

Awesome...those look sweet. I like the dessert tan too...

Yup, definitely a work-related write-off! :D When I was starting out as an auto tech decades ago, all the tools I bought the first year were a write-off. Got $2000 back that year! :p

Gotta get some outdoor natural daylight without glare if you guys want a pic or two, maybe this weekend.

But honestly, it's just a Colt 1911 Government Rail Gun in black Cerakote. Seen one, seen 'em all right?

And I am ordering a Safariland 6365 holster for it cuz' the 6365 I already have for a 1911 Govt obviously won't accommodate a weapon light. Another $125 but I knew that going in.

Nice work Nitesite!! Can't wait to some pics!!
