1911: Pics and Discussion

I have two Dan Wesson 1911s and they are both fantastic pistols.

My first was the V-Bob, which is the bobtailed commander version of the Valor. When you grip this pistol, it grips you back. As Hickok45 said, you can hang onto this pistol even if you had a handful of grease.

I liked that one so much, I wanted the lighter aluminum-framed version. Say hello to my Guardian.

Those are nice Bobtails.
I almost bought a Dan Wesson Pointman a couple years ago. As LES stated, the fit and finish was on point. I don't think you can go wrong with a Dan Wesson.

Thanks guys. I'm sold on Dan Wesson pistols.

One of these days, I'd like to send my V-Bob back to have them put the Duty finish on it. The stainless has no finish, beyond being bead blasted, so it scratches easily. The Guardian has the Duty finish and it's nearly indestructible. I carried the Guardian for about a year in a leather & kydex IWB holster and it shows zero wear.

Somewhere on the web, there is a video of that duty finish being "scratched" with the edge of a file & then being buffed out with some 0000 steel wool. It's amazing.

Just got my MC Operator back from OCCustom Coatings - Im not a massive fan of black guns and wanted something a little unique :D working on a couple of other projects for my LaRue, M&P9 and Mossbergs..

This company makes use of some interesting camo patterns for clothing...which transfers well to firearms too:

Nice, I had all internals micro slicked as well, made that 1911 smooth as hell. I have my others going in whilst i have 3 weeks on the road. Looked to seeing them on my return ;) Those are some sweet coatings, thanks for the links!

Anyone have any experience with a Colt delta elite 10mm ? It seems to be my new obsession.

Not with the Delta Elite, but I do shoot a bit of 10mm.

It's a helluva round for sure. Seems the early model Delta Elites had some feeding/ejection issues and problems with cracked frames, but looks like they may have worked some of that out more recently...

The delta elite is a beautiful firearm, and has a price tag that equals its look. Just a bit out of my reach. A guy can dream.
