Good morning

Good morning all. It's cloudy and cool. 58 now and that will be the high for the day.

Yep, that's the way I remember them too. We would catch them and just throw them back in the creek. There were one or two that we caught every summer for a couple of years. It's funny, the lake we go to now I hardly ever see a crawdad. Then again I don't go down on the rocks along the shore either, too many snakes for my liking. I reckon the snakes and fish take care of most of the 'dads.

I hope you all have a great day. Be safe and stay vigilant.

Good morning Mossberg owners.

We used to catch crawdads with a homemade dip net up at Chester Creek in Duluth.

Today I hope to catch some bass. I'm taking my wife out fishing in the boat soon.

Of course it's already 6 a.m. so we're actually going girly fishing but it will be fun.

You all catch a big one!

Good afternoon *sigh*
Today was supposed to be fishing day. Halfway to the highway, the weather report said thunderstorms are blowing in. Sky is darkening. . . .Wind coming up.
Crap! . . . We turned around and took the boat home.

Instead of fishing, I took the wife shopping. We bought fish for dinner. And groceries for a while.
Now I have to figure out what goes with wild sockeye, potato salad, & pumpkin pie a-la-mode.

Maybe a Corona Especial. ;)

BTW, it all blew over and the day is lovely.

Good morning Mossberg owners.

Well the rain was extremely light and the winds were blustery and the thunder showers were dramatic but did not start till 9 p.m. today it is gloomy and cool and 40% chance of rain, so of course this is the day I had planned to start my motorcycle.

Or paint a metal gate. LOL

IN THE NEWS:

It seems that some people eventually do figure out which way the wind is blowing.

Even modern "journalists".

Our local newspaper (published by McClatchy) has been staunchly anti-trump for over 2 years. It has been staunchly anti-GOP for as long as I can remember.

But now they are running editorials and political cartoons which do not quite celebrate the president, or GOP, but they celebrate his policies.

It seems that this started because . . . maybe . . .I am guessing here, that they figured out that the value of their stock had increased in the past 2 years and there has been no censorship while the Democrats want all the news media under government control.

Democrats were calling for censorship of social media. They were talking about censorship of certain games and websites. They wanted proscribed speech laws.

I didn't hear them say "newspapers" specifically, but in any event someone seems to have made the connection.

This has all made me much more cheerful and optimistic about our chances of having a relatively free Society for a little longer.

You folks have a nice day.

Cadd, ever hear of Squaw Lake? I was living in that area about 2 years in the late 70s.

Sounds like someone is touting dictatorship or socialism, or worse. let em swing!

There is more than one Squaw lake out here, but no I have not been to either.

Maybe there's more, as there is one on the map called Old Squaw Lake, and something called Squaw Lakes as well. ;)

I was just North of Deer River. I lived in Cohasset. On Bass Lake. I know...there are several.

In Calif, I have fished in Millerton, Shaver, Huntington, Balsam Medows, Pine Flat, Hensley, Eastman, Kaweah, and the San Joaquin river. Also Lost Lake, Cherry lake and one Pinecrest.

Plus forgotten places 45 years ago.

There is no lake around that compares to Lake of the Woods MN though. Incredible fishing in a lake with a hundred little islands, inhabited by every damnthing Canadian except Kodiak or Polar bear.

I thought we were talking about Squaw near Bass Lake California, (which is pretty far from Cohasset CA.)

I'm totally confused.

Minnesota uses all the names at least twice.

I have noticed that. I lived for 6 months on Bass Lake in Cohasset, MN and fished on another Bass lake in the vicinity many years before that. The Bass Lake near Cohasset was a lot bigger than the other one. BUT I and a friend caned around the little lake and caught bass after bass, big bluegills and a few walleyes. It was stuck back in the woods far enough that we had to portage to it.

Good morning! I woke up at 03:00 to the sound of more rain, I can see a reflection off of standing water out front.....I was able to get caught up on the yard yesterday, I still had a little water standing from the last round. Lakes are full, most gates are open and the Arkansas river is rolling....fishing will be kind of slow until things calm down a bit. I hope y`all have a great and hopefully dry weekend!

Morning everyone, I also woke to thunder and rain about 0430. Rain is good for us right now, get that corn off and running. Its raining lightly now what a beauty morning temperate air. Coffee and some bluegrass mandolin will take me to about 0900. Wishing all a great day.

Crawdads??? Somebody say crawdads ??
This is a link to my dear buddy Ronnie(he's filming) and friend catching a few. Ronnie is that ultimate HUNTER/GATHERER, hes forgotten more than most will ever know. If ya hungry he can teach ya how to eat like a king from the land 12 months a year.

Years ago we had an old Cherokee woman up near Kenwood Oklahoma on the Saline Creek take us wading at night for crawdads and then boiled `em up for us the next morning... :) good times!
